CANADIENS (24-22-4) at FLYERS (21-18-8)
TV: CSN-PH, RDS, SNE
Season series: Brayden Schenn had a goal and two assists in the Philadelphia Flyers' 4-3 defeat of the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 5 at Wells Fargo Center. Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere had a goal and an assist. Canadiens forward Daniel Carr had a goal and an assist.
Canadiens team scope: Defenseman Alexei Emelin missed practice Monday because of a travel issue. He was expected to join the team in Philadelphia on Monday evening. Forwards Lucas Lessio and Sven Andrighetto, recalled from St. John's of the American Hockey League on Sunday, practiced Monday. Lessio was acquired in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 15. He has 10 goals and 21 points in 42 AHL games this season, including three goals and nine points in 18 games with St. John's. Lessio has played 29 NHL games in parts of two seasons with the Coyotes, but his last game was Feb. 28, 2015. Lessio and Andrighetto split time at left wing on the fourth line at practice Monday, according to RDS, along with Torrey Mitchell and Brian Flynn. The top two lines saw David Desharnais centering Max Pacioretty and Dale Weise, and Tomas Plekanec between Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher.
Flyers team scope: Center Sean Couturier and goaltender Steve Mason practiced Monday. Couturier missed the three games prior to the All-Star break because of a lower-body injury; Philadelphia went 0-2-1 without him. Mason was on the ice after missing the Flyers' final game before the break, against the Washington Capitals, because of a lower-body injury. Mason had told the Courier-Post the injury had been bothering him for a while and was hopeful the time off during the break would allow him to heal. "I don't think it's anything too serious," Mason said last week. "We're in a stretch where we have a little bit of time to take some rest. That's what we're doing. Hopefully come the end of the break here we'll be ready to go." If Mason starts Wednesday it will be his first game since Jan. 21 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was the backup to Michal Neuvirth on Jan. 25 against the Boston Bruins.
