The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday that the team has signed forward Rich Clune to an NHL contract. Clune, who had previously signed an AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies this past off-season, will join the Maple Leafs today for practice.
Clune, 28, has collected five points (two goals, three assists) and 18 penalty minutes in eight games with the Toronto Marlies so far this season. Clune has played in 120 career NHL games with Los Angeles and Nashville, registering 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) and 305 penalty minutes. The Toronto, Ontario native has also skated in 345 career AHL games, collecting 97 points (34 goals, 63 assists) and 1115 penalty minutes. Clune was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 3rd round (71st overall) during the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
