CANADIENS (9-1-0) at OILERS (3-7-0)

TV: SN, SN360, RDS

Season series: The Edmonton Oilers have won three straight games against the Montreal Canadiens, including two last season. Ben Scrivens made 29 saves in a 3-0 win at Rexall Place on Oct. 27, 2014. Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two goals and an assist against Montreal. Canadiens goalie Carey Price has not faced the Oilers since Oct. 22, 2013.

Canadiens team scope: Montreal did not practice Wednesday after a 5-1 loss at the Vancouver Canucks, so it remains to be seen if coach Michel Therrien will make any changes to the lineup he used throughout the Canadiens' record-setting start. The loss put an end Montreal's perfect 9-0-0 record; the Canadiens set an NHL record for the most regulation wins to begin a season and fell one victory short of the League record for most wins of any kind from the start of a season. Defenseman Jeff Petry will face his former team for the first time since Edmonton traded him to the Canadiens on March 2. "It's going to be good to go back into that building, but I'm going to approach it like any other game," said Petry, who had one assist in two games against Montreal before the trade. "There are going to be a lot of familiar faces, but once the puck drops it's a game and I'm not going to be friendly out there, by any means."

Oilers team scope: Center Connor McDavid brings a six-game point streak into his first game against the Canadiens. McDavid has 10 points through his first 10 games, including four goals and five assists during his streak. The No. 1 pick in the NHL Draft is 18, the same age Wayne Gretzky was when he scored a power-play goal in the Oilers' 5-3 win against Montreal at Northlands Coliseum on Dec. 14, 1979, in the first NHL game between the teams. Defenseman Darnell Nurse was paired with Oscar Klefbom and scored his first NHL goal in Edmonton's 4-3 loss at the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. "Obviously when you get to play with a guy like that it makes your job a lot easier," Nurse said. "I thought the two of us played pretty well together." The Oilers recalled defenseman Joey LaLeggia and forward Tyler Pitlick from Bakersfield of the American Hockey League on Wednesday, and put defensemn Justin Schultz (undisclosed) and right wing Rob Klinkhammer (lower body) on injured reserve.
