[SurroundSound] Re: PS3 SACD rips

Thanks, pj, for your thanks!

Actually, as members of this group, we all have the opportunity to
learn and share ideas and knowledge about proper SACD ripping, DSD
conversion, etc.
We then act as ambassadors in other forums and interest groups, to
educate those who might unwittingly rip the hybrid part of an SACD and
call it a SACD rip.
On our part, we can sniff out duds if we know what we are looking for.
Eg, an entire DSD iso rip might occupy 3.x GB, so someone who
innocently rips the hybrid redbook part would end up with wavs or
flacs, that don't even take up 1GB.

Also, one good indicator of a real SACD rip is the presence of
multichannel tracks, which is what many people are interested in.
If the tracks are in DST compression, it's an even clearer sign that
the source is a real SACD. Only the most malicious and intentional rip-
off people would go and rip multichannel AC3/DTS-audio and upconvert
it to DSD and then compress it to DST to fool us!
