You both should have received links to the file. I should note I found the linked torrent at another site than the original which seemed to disappear from the internet. So this version is not labeled like the former one I had which had indicated it was an up mix. this one indicates nothing and doesn't really note the album or artist. You should enjoy the iso for kicks and giggles. It certainly made me think HOW bad I need the new SACD...since someone seems to have done a relatively competent job at their home computer...maybe they should have hired this guy/gal instead of guthrie...maybe then the immersion sets would only cost 100 bucks...lol

Thanks in advance,

Many were burned by unlabelled upmixes and fakes across the board for years. This is nothing new and regrettably unavoidable... except if you know your source. I will send you a private link. Also... have you updated to the latest foobar plugin version. Maybe it was a cpu usage issue?
Last thing I will say is that if you trust our members here... then you trust the guys doing most of these releases.
August... can you link me in private to the WYWH upmix?

We are all probably aware these came from (supposedly) Q8 quad tapes that were at one time converted to DVD-A. I downloaded them fully aware that they were fakes, but I love both the albums and figured what the heck lets see how well they did...Well, the APP wasn't really any different from the HDAD...however, PF WYWH is leagues different from the DVD-A out there. Almost sounds like a studio release. I almost thought I'd gotten a pre release version of the new release it's pretty remarkable labor of love. Not to say that it shouldn't be labeled as an upmix (and I believe the sources I have were identified as such)...but for something someone likely made at home it sounds very good.--

I agree with what you're saying and I trust you guys implicitely but
the PS3 rip thing is clearly in its infancy and the availability of
rips is a great thing for the future. I think the audio market will
have to look at releasing in file form at some point, especially with
all this work. Media players, Oppo with disk/file access, etc and get
away from optical is the future in my mind. I dont mind paying for
good quality but some of the recent prices being quoted are
ridiculous. All your comments are appreciated.
Excluding you guys and the folk you say you trust.... someone will
release standard stuff packaged and named wrongly, and some of us
might be fooled. I guess you could say that's tough, and I guess we
all might need to restrict ourselves to 'good guys' but I'm fearing us
being duped and scoffed at. Again; so long as I have the actual SACD
I will be able to compare and say yeh or nay but I'd much rather we
had some way of knowing genuine from fake (might not be possible and
maybe it's irrelevent if I can't tell). At some point I am going to
download a 'ripped' multichannel version that I dont actually own
(I'll have the CD at least), and I am going to 'trust' it. I'm
thinking of all the stuff Napster broadcast with the wrong tags in the
early days; and things like 'turning Japanese' being associated with
The Kinks. Once junk hits the internet there is no stopping it, no
hiding it, and no way back! It'll turn up for years.
ps I have seen folk talk of ripping their SACD when all they are
doing is ripping the hybrid part. They're not even trying to fool
folk they're just not 100% aware of what they have done. They're not
stupid, they're not malicious... just wrong about what they think
they're doing. And we can all be wrong about something at some point
in our life (many points in mine)..
pps Brubeck download; It wasn't so much distortion as total break-up.
And it was an ISO from another site, played through Foobar on my PC.
It was my first 'test' and maybe I need to build a list of trusty
sources. You guys and your own control of the Hub will be a far
safer, and trusted, environment. That'll be another lesson for me to
take onboard.
Anyway... A big THANK YOU to all the genuine work out there, and I
sincerely hope it changes the distribution of music in future. It's a
worthy dream surely.
