Austin Watson scored the winning goal as the Peterborough Petes ended a seven-game home losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Barrie Colts in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.
Watson scored the winner at 3:51 of the third period, putting the rebound of a Justin Larson shot past Colts goaltender Clint Windsor.
The Petes had taken a 1-0 lead on Alan Quine's twentieth goal of the season on a beautiful feed from Matt Puempel during a five-on-three power play midway through the first.
The Petes (14-30-2) and Colts (8-34-4) are the only two teams in the OHL to have surrendered over 200 goals this season, but both played strong defensive games and got solid performances from their goalies.
Elsewhere on the OHL it was: Saginaw 6 Sarnia 2; London 7 Niagara 6 (SO); and Plymouth 5 Windsor 4 (SO).
At Peterborough, Ont., Windsor stopped 34 shots to keep Peterborough from pulling away, while Bryce O'Hagan made 29 saves for the Petes.
O'Hagan's shutout bid was spoiled when Steven Beyers fired on a power play at 8:04 of the third period.
The loss was the eighth straight overall and sixteenth straight on the road for Barrie.
Spirit 6 Sting 2
At Sarnia, Ont., Ivan Telegin scored three goals to lead Saginaw over the Sting.
John McFarland had two goals while Vincent Trocheck added a goal and an assist for the Spirit (32-11-4), who won for the first time in three games.
Nail Yakupov scored twice for the Sting (18-21-6).

Knights 7 IceDogs 6 (SO)
At St. Catharines, Ont., Ryan Rupert scored with 11 seconds left in regulation and Vladislav Namestnikov added the shootout winner as London beat Niagara.
Rupert and Jared Knight each had two goals and an assist and Stephen Sanza also scored twice for the Knights (25-17-3).
IceDogs captain Andrew Agozzino scored two goals to give him 31 on the season, while Ryan Strome added a goal and two assists for Niagara (29-11-6).
Johnson Andrews, Dougie Hamilton and Jason Wilson had the other Niagara goals.

Whalers 5 Spitfires 4 (SO)
At Windsor, Ont., Scott Wedgewood made 57 saves and Robbie Czarnik scored the shootout winner as Plymouth defeated the Spitfires.
Garrett Meurs, Tyler Brown, Mitchell Heard and Stefan Noeson all scored for the Whalers (26-18-3) while Tom Kuhnhackl, with two, Alexander Khokhlachev and Stephen Johnson replied for the Spitfires (26-15-4).
