Louis Leblanc scored the shootout winner as the Montreal Juniors edged the P.E.I. Rocket 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Thursday.
Leblanc's goal, the only one of the shootout, salvaged the win for the West Division leading Juniors (34-8-7), who blew a 2-0 first-period lead.
The Juniors moved within four points of the Saint John Sea Dogs for first overall in the QMJHL standings.
Elsewhere, Chicoutimi edged Gatineau 1-0 and Shawinigan downed Val-d'Or 6-3.
At Charlottetown, Nicolas Chouinard scored for Montreal on a penalty shot while the Juniors were short-handed. Jeremy Gouchie also scored short-handed for Montreal.
Samuel Morneau, on a power play, and Philippe Paradis replied for the Rocket (22-21-6).
Jean-Francois Berube made 26 saves for Montreal.
Rocket goaltender Evan Mosher, who was replaced for 2:55 of the third period, returned to finish the game and stopped 36 of 38 shots. Backup Maxime Lagace pushed aside the three shots he faced.

At Gatineau, Que., Maxime Levesque scored in the third period as Chicoutimi beat the Olympiques.
Christopher Gibson made 25 saves for the Sagueneens (17-21-10).
Maxime Clermont stopped 15 shots for Gatineau (30-14-5).

At Val-d'Or, Que., Benjamin Casavant had a goal and two assists as Shawinigan beat the Foreurs.
Loik Poudrier, Peter Sakaris, Justin Hache, Yannick Veilleux and Dave Labrecque also scored for Shawinigan (30-14-3).
Marc-Alain Begin, Guillaume Gelinas and Anthony Taylor replied for Val-d'Or (16-26-5).
