The Saint John Sea Dogs are riding their hot streak to the top of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League standings.
Zack Phillips opened scoring for Saint John with back-to-back goals as the Sea Dogs trounced the Halifax Mooseheads 7-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Saint John has earned a point in each of its last 12 games, winning 11 matches since a 5-1 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Oct. 22.
The one blemish in that 12-game span was a 4-3 shootout loss to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Nov. 6.
Earning 23 points in just over a month has sent the Sea Dogs to the very top of the QMJHL. Their 44 points are tied with the Quebec Remparts for best in the league, although Saint John has the advantage with three games in hand.
The key to the Sea Dogs' success has been their well-balanced play. They lead the league in goals for (128) and goals against (70).
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Acadie-Bathurst 4, Cape Breton 2; Montreal 4, Drummondville 3 (OT); Rimouski 5, Quebec 1; Moncton 5, Shawinigan 2; and Val-d'Or 4, Baie-Comeau 1.
At Saint John, N.B., Jonathan Huberdeau had a power-play goal and three assists for the Sea Dogs (21-3-2), while Nathan Beaulieu, Tomas Jurco, Stanislav Galiev and Scott Oke also scored.
Francis Turbide supplied the offence for Halifax (9-18-1).

Titan 4, Screaming Eagles 2
At Sydney, N.S., David Gilbert had the eventual winner as Acadie-Bathurst fended off a late surge by Cape Breton.
Zach O'Brien, Radovan Pulis and Sebastien Trudeau rounded out the attack for the Titan (18-10-0).
Logan Shaw and Jean-Sebastien Fournier's goals in the last 10 minutes of play weren't enough for the Screaming Eagles (9-18-2).
---
Juniors 4, Voltigeurs 3 (OT)
At Drummondville, Que., Charles-Olivier Roussel scored twice, including in overtime, as Montreal edged the Voltigeurs.
Philippe Lefebvre and David Rose had goals in regulation for the Juniors (20-4-3).
Julien Tremblay's 10th of the season forced overtime for Drummondville (18-8-4) with just under two minutes left in the third. Ondrej Palat and Alexandre Comtois also tallied.

Oceanic 5, Remparts 1
At Rimouski, Que., Alex Emond had a pair of goals and an assist as the Oceanic upset Quebec.

Joel Champagne's third-period power-play goal was too late to help the Remparts (21-6-2).
---
Wildcats 5, Cataractes 2
At Shawinigan, Que., Marek Hrivik's hat trick powered Moncton past the Cataractes.
Alex Saulnier had a short-handed goal for Moncton (17-9-3) and assisted on Daniel Milan's power-play marker.
Michael Bournival and Tommy Giroux responded for Shawinigan (15-9-3).
---
Foreurs 4, Drakkar 1
At Val-d'Or, Que., Jonathan Hazen had two goals in the final minute of play to pad the Foreurs' lead over Baie-Comeau.
Alexandre Touchette and Anthony Taylor gave Val-d'Or (14-13-2) a 2-1 lead before Hazen took advantage of an empty net and then added a power-play marker.
