The Montreal Canadians have signed former St. Louis Blues forward Mike Hoffman to a three-year, $13.5 million deal, per Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
In Hoffman, the Canadiens are getting a pure a goal-scorer capable of hitting 50 points a season on the regular. The 31-year-old is coming off a 17-goal, 36-point campaign on the COVID-shortened 2020-21 schedule. Prior to that, he went six straight seasons with 22 or more goals and five straight with at least 56 points. Hoffman's best seasons came in Florida, scoring a career-best 36 goals in 2018-19 and following it up with 29 in 2019-20.
After having to wait until the waning days of 2020 to find a new home last off-season -- and even then, it took a creative PTO agreement to get him into the fold in St. Louis -- Hoffman finds some stability in Montreal with a three-year pact.
