The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to terms with goaltender Michael McNiven for a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Wednesday.
The deal will see the 23-year-old netminder earn $700,000 in the NHL and $75,000 in the AHL.
McNiven played three games with the AHL's Laval Rocket during the 2019-20 season, earning a 3-0-0 record, a 2.33 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. The Winnipeg, Man., native also posted a 9-11-2 record in the ECHL last season with the Adirondack Thunder, Jacksonville Icemen and Norfolk Admirals.
In 58 career AHL games, McNiven has a 20-31-4 record while posting a 2.94 GAA, a .895 save percentage and two shutouts.
McNiven signed an entry-level contract with the Canadiens in 2015 as a free agent.
