{allcanada} Stanley Cup Playoff primer: Western Conference

 

There are six days remaining in the NHL regular season, and the race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Western Conference remains wide open. The Calgary Flames clinched first place in the Western Conference and Pacific Divsion on Sunday with a win against the San Jose Sharks, who will play the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference First Round. The Colorado Avalanche hold the final playoff spot in the West, and the Winnipeg Jets, Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues have also clinched postseason berths.

Here is where the Western Conference playoff picture stands today:

 
Calgary Flames (49-23-7)

Where they stand: 105 points; Clinched first in Western Conference, Pacific Division

If playoffs started today: Would play the Colorado Avalanche in first round

Remaining games: at Los Angeles Kings, Monday (10 p.m. ET; PRIME, SNW, NHL.TV); at Anaheim Ducks, Wednesday; vs. Edmonton Oilers, Saturday

 

San Jose Sharks (44-26-9)

Where they stand: 97 points; second in Pacific Division; clinched playoff berth

If playoffs started today: Will play the Vegas Golden Knights in first round

Remaining games: at Vancouver Canucks, Tuesday (10 p.m. ET; SNP, NBCSCA+, NHL.TV); at Oilers, Thursday; vs. Colorado Avalanche

 

Vegas Golden Knights (42-30-7)

Where they stand: 91 points; third in Pacific Division; clinched playoff berth

If playoffs started today: Will play the Sharks in first round

Remaining games: vs. Edmonton Oilers, Monday (10 p.m. ET; SN1, ATTSN-RM, NHL.TV); vs. Arizona Coyotes, Thursday; at Kings, Saturday

 

Winnipeg Jets (45-29-4)

Where they stand: 94 points; tied for first in Central Division; clinched playoff berth

If playoffs started today: Would play the Dallas Stars in first round

Remaining games: at Chicago Blackhawks, Monday (8:30 p.m. ET; WGN, TSN3, NHL.TV); at Minnesota Wild, Tuesday; at Avalanche, Thursday; at Coyotes, Saturday

 

Nashville Predators (44-29-6)

Where they stand: 94 points; tied for first in Central Division; clinched playoff berth

If playoffs started today: Would play the St. Louis Blues in first round

St. Louis Blues (42-28-8)

Where they stand: 92 points; third in Central Division; clinched playoff berth

The Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and Vancouver Canucks have been eliminated from playoff contention in the Western Conference.
