Oilers team scope

Forwards Zack Kassian and Jesse Puljujarvi are doubtful after each sustained lower-body injuries during the Edmonton Oilers' 4-3 shootout win against the New York Islanders on Saturday, coach Todd McLellan said after the game. The Oilers trailed 2-0 in the first period and 3-2 in the second, but tied the game twice before winning in a shootout. Edmonton lost 8-1 on Feb. 7 in its previous visit to Brooklyn. "You talk about growth, last year in this building, [an] 8-1 loss," said forward Mark Letestu, who scored the only goal of the shootout. "This time we come out slow like we did then but found a way to battle back."

Red Wings team scope

Defenseman Niklas Kronwall is available after missing practice Saturday, one day after making his season debut in the Detroit Red Wings' 5-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets at Joe Louis Arena. Kronwall, who is dealing with a chronic knee injury, will be held out of some practices to avoid aggravating the problem. Coach Jeff Blashill juggled his defense pairs Saturday, putting Mike Green with Jonathan Ericsson and using Brendan Smith with Alexey Marchenko. Ryan Sproul skated in what would be Kronwall's spot alongside Danny DeKeyser. Blashill said he wouldn't finalize the pairs until Sunday.
