Flames team scope

The Calgary Flames are looking to end a 23-game losing streak (0-18-5) at Honda Center since Jan. 19, 2004. "We're going to have video tomorrow, pick up on a few mistakes, and just put them behind us, and forget about it," forward Michael Frolik said. "I know it's a big one in Anaheim and I know it's been a long time, so I think it's time for us to break the record there and come up for a win." The Flames lost 5-0 at the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. Coach Glen Gulutzan said a poor first period doomed them from the start and that he felt they were intimidated by the Kings. "They had their groove on today, the L.A.-style game," Gulutzan said after the game. "We just couldn't match it and we have to find a way to match it. I thought L.A. came out with a good start and they put us on our heels a little bit." The Flames have had a difficult time establishing consistency on special teams. Calgary has the second-worst penalty kill percentage in the NHL (74.5 percent) and is 0-for-13 on the power play in its past five games.

Ducks team scope

The Anaheim Ducks hope to get captain Ryan Getzlaf (upper body) and linemate Nick Ritchie (upper body) back for the finale of a three-game homestand. Each practiced Saturday and are game-time decisions. "We'll do an assessment," Carlyle said after practice. "It'll be contingent on them telling us they're ready to play. As with any injured player, we do what we feel is necessary to get them to a point. The last 10 percent is based on how they feel." Ritchie followed concussion protocol following a hit by Kings defenseman Tom Gilbert. Getzlaf said his injury was somewhat minor but did not want to aggravate it further by returning too soon. "We have to be smart about things and not push things over the limit," he said. "Anytime you have injuries, when you push them a little bit, you want to see how it reacts."
