{allcanada} WHL: Butcher has four points as Tigers win crush Oil Kings

 

EDMONTON — Chad Butcher had a goal and three assists as the Medicine Hat Tigers downed the Edmonton Oil Kings 7-3 on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Zach Fischer scored twice and added an assist for the Tigers (10-4-1). Tyler Preziuso, David Quenneville, Max Gerlach and John Dahlstrom rounded out the attack.

Tyler Robertson, Colton Kehler and Lane Bauer found the back of the net for Edmonton (4-8-2).

Nick Schneider made 24 saves for the win in net as Liam Hughes turned aside 48-of-55 shots in defeat.

Medicine Hat was 2 for 5 on the power play while the Oil Kings scored once on two chances.

HITMEN 3 COUGARS 2 (OT)

CALGARY — Jordy Stallard scored the winner on the power play in overtime as the Hitmen edged Prince George.

Andrei Grishakov, on the power play, and Beck Malenstyn had goals in regulation for Calgary (5-5-1). Cody Porter made 39 saves in net.

Yan Khomenko and Josh Curtis chipped in for the Cougars (13-3-1) while Nick McBride stopped 23 shots.

BRONCOS 3 CHIEFS 2 (OT)

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Tyler Steenbergen had the overtime winner and Travis Child made 45 saves as the Broncos edged Spokane.

Conner Chaulk and Lane Pederson, on the power play, also scored for Swift Current (9-5-2).

Evan Fiala and Tanner Wishnowski found the back of the net for the Chiefs (6-6-3), who had a three-game winning streak ended. Dawson Weatherill stopped 24 shots.

HURRICANES 6 REBELS 1

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Tyler Wong and Jordy Bellerive both had a goal and two assists while Ryley Lindgren tacked on three helpers as the Hurricanes routed Red Deer.

Giorgio Estephan struck twice with Brayden Burke and Tanner Nagel rounding out the attack for Lethbridge (6-7-2), which snapped a six-game skid. Stuart Skinner stopped 26 shots.

Evan Polei replied on the power play for the Rebels (8-5-2) and Riley Lamb made 22 saves.

BLADES 1 RAIDERS 0

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Logan Flodell stopped all 23 shots he faced as Saskatoon shut out the Raiders to end a four-game losing skid.

Josh Paterson scored the winner on the power play in the third period for the Blades (7-7-1).

Ian Scott turned away 32 shots for Prince Albert (4-9-1).

ROCKETS 5 WINTERHAWKS 3

PORTLAND, Ore. — Devante Stephens had two goals and an assist to lead Kelowna past the Winterhawks and extend its win streak to five games.

Tomas Soustal struck twice with Nick Merkley adding the other for the Rockets (8-7-0). Michael Herringer made 38 saves in net.

Joachim Blichfeld, Evan Weinger and Skyler McKenzie supplied the offence for Portland (8-7-0). Michael Bullion turned aside 34-of-38 shots.

GIANTS 4 BLAZERS 1

LANGLEY, B.C. — Radovan Bondra and Dawson Holt scored in the second period as the Giants got past Kamloops.

Johnny Wesley opened the scoring on the power play and Tyler Benson added an empty netter for Vancouver (7-10-0). Ryan Kubic made 23 saves.

Quinn Benjafield had a power-play goal for the Blazers (8-8-0) and Dylan Ferguson turned aside 35 shots.

SILVERTIPS 2 ROYALS 1 (OT)

EVERETT, Wash. — Connor Dewar had the winner 46 seconds into overtime as the Silvertips topped Victoria.

Montreal Canadiens prospect Noah Juulsen scored in regulation for Everett (11-2-2) and Carter Hart made 26 saves.

Tyler Soy opened the attack for the Royals (8-7-2) while Griffen Outhouse kicked out 40 shots.
