{allcanada} OHL Roundup: Spitfires top Battalion in OT

 

WINDSOR, Ont. — Jalen Chatfield scored the winner 1:01 into overtime as the Windsor Spitfires topped the North Bay Battalion 5-4 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jeremiah Addison and Aaron Luchuk both struck twice for the Spitfires (10-4-0) in regulation with Julius Nattinen adding three helpers.

Brett McKenzie, shorthanded, Danill Vertiy, Brett Hargrave and Steve Harland found the back of the net for North Bay (7-6-1).

Mario Culina stopped 25 shots for the win while Mat Woroniuk turned away 23-of-28 shots in defeat.

Windsor went 1 for 4 on the power play and the Battalion were scoreless on four opportunities.

OTTERS 6 SPIRIT 0

ERIE, Pa. — Brett Newmann had a goal and three assists and Troy Timpano made 27 saves as the Otters shut out Saginaw.

Patrick Fellows struck twice and Ivan Lodnia had a goal and two helpers for Erie (10-3-1), which hasn't suffered a regulation loss in 10 games. Taylor Raddysh and Gera Poddubnyi tacked on the others.

Evan Cormier started for the Spirit (2-9-2) but was pulled after kicking out 17-of-22 shots in 40 minutes. Brendan Bonello made 13 saves in relief.

KNIGHTS 5 STING 3

LONDON, Ont. — Sam Miletic and Janne Kuokkanen each had a pair of goals to lead the Knights over Sarnia.

Cliff Pu also scored and Emanuel Vella stopped 27 shots for London (8-2-3).

Nikita Korostelev, Sean Josling and Jaden Lindo found the back of the net for the Sting (9-4-1). Blair Coffin made 30 saves.

London's Chris Martenet received a match penalty for cross checking late in the second period while teammate Max Jones was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for inteference in the third.

67's 5 BULLDOGS 4

OTTAWA — Austen Keating had the winner and Drake Rymsha tacked on three assists as the 67's held off Hamilton.

Patrick White and Artur Tyanulin had power-play goals with Noel Hoefenmayer and Travis Barron also chipping in for Ottawa (5-7-2). Leo Lazarev made 26 saves in net.

Justin Lemcke, Matt Luff, on a penalty shot, Adam Laishram and Marian Studenic supplied the offence for the Bulldogs (7-5-1). Kaden Fulcher kicked out 22-of-27 shots.

WOLVES 4 COLTS 1

BARRIE, Ont. — Darian Pilon scored the eventual winner in the first period and Zack Bowman made 34 saves as Sudbury snapped a three-game skid with a win over the Colts.

Dmitry Sokolov and David Levin also chipped in while Liam Dunda added an empty netter for the Wolves (8-6-1).

Tom Hedberg replied for Barrie (6-7-2) and Christian Propp turned away 24 shots.

ATTACK 2 ICEDOGS 1 (OT)

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Petrus Palmu scored at 2:58 of overtime as the Attack edged Niagara.

Markus Phillips tied the game late in the second and Michael McNiven made 20 saves for Owen Sound (8-7-0).

Johnny Corneil opened the scoring for the IceDogs (4-7-3) and Stephen Dhillon stopped 53 shots in net.
