Defenseman P.K. Subban skated prior to Nashville Predators practice Wednesday, The Tennessean reported.
Subban has an upper-body injury and has not practiced with his new team. He missed the final 14 games of last season with a neck injury sustained playing for the Montreal Canadiens.
Defenseman Ryan Ellis (upper body) also skated prior to practice, and forward Craig Smith (lower body) was preparing to practice after leaving a preseason game Tuesday.
PANTHERS: Defenseman Aaron Ekblad has been cleared by Florida Panthers doctors after being injured during the World Cup of Hockey 2016, TSN reported.
Ekblad was injured in a Team North America game against Team Finland on Sept. 18. Initial reports said he had a concussion, but Sportsnet reported it was a neck injury.
He has skated on his own since returning to Florida.
STARS: Forward Tyler Seguin is expected to skate with the Dallas Stars after fracturing his heel during the World Cup.
Seguin was expected to need two weeks to recover after he was injured playing a pretournament game for Team Canada against Team USA on Sept. 9.
"I don't know the exact day [he will return]," coach Lindy Ruff told the Stars website. "But he is feeling a lot better."
Forward Radek Faksa is expected to play in a preseason game Wednesday after he sustained a concussion playing for Team Czech Republic at the World Cup.
SENATORS: Forward Mark Stone skated Tuesday as he attempts to return from a concussion, the Ottawa Citizen reported.
"He was on the ice for a few minutes and it went fine, so things are progressing well in his case," coach Guy Boucher told the newspaper.
There was no update on forward Clarke MacArthur, who sustained a concussion Sunday during a scrimmage.
"We want to make sure he gets as much rest as possible," Boucher said.
KINGS: Forward Jeff Carter participated in Los Angeles Kings practice Wednesday, L.A. Kings Insider reported.
Carter withdrew from Team Canada prior to the World Cup because of a lower-body injury sustained during offseason workouts. He told the website he would like to play in four preseason games.
DUCKS: Forward Rickard Rakell is likely to begin skating within a week but may not be ready for the Anaheim Ducks' season opener after surgery this month to fix complications from an appendectomy, TSN reported.
Rakell, an unsigned restricted free agent, had surgery on his appendix March 29. The 23-year-old felt ill while preparing to represent Team Sweden at the World Cup of Hockey 2016 and discovered a complication that required surgery. He has not trained or skated since.
