Season series: The Florida Panthers have defeated the Ottawa Senators in three of four games. After the Senators won the first game 4-1 at BB&T Center on Dec. 8, the Panthers responded with a 2-1 shootout win at home on Dec. 22, a 3-2 victory in Ottawa on Jan. 7 and 6-2 win at home on Mar. 10. Forward Vincent Trocheck has scored two goals and four assists for the Panthers, while goalie Roberto Luongo has gone 3-1-0 with a .918 save percentage. Forward Mark Stone led the way for the Senators with a goal and four assists.
Panthers team scope: Trocheck (foot) and center Dave Bolland (lower body) are out, along with defensemen Willie Mitchell (concussion) and Erik Gudbranson (undisclosed). Gudbranson returned home for further evaluation after he sustained an injury in Florida's 4-3 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. The Panthers had Wednesday off after they defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 on Tuesday to win their fourth straight game and clinch the Atlantic Division. "This is great, to win the division title is a great honor for us,'' coach Gerard Gallant told the Panthers website.
Senators team scope: Goalie Craig Anderson will start. Defenseman Marc Methot (undisclosed) returned to practice Wednesday after he missed the Senators' 5-3 loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, but hopes to play Thursday. Forwards Bobby Ryan (lower body) and Stone (upper body) did not practice. Stone is out, but Ryan also hopes to return after sustaining an injury against the Penguins. Defensemen Dion Phaneuf (lower body), Mark Borowiecki (knee), Patrick Wiercioch (undisclosed) and Chris Phillips (back) remain out, along with forwards Kyle Turris (ankle) and Clarke MacArthur (concussion).
