Season series: The Ottawa Senators defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in a shootout at Canadian Tire Centre on Nov. 5. Craig Anderson made 38 saves andBobby Ryan, Kyle Turris and Mika Zibanejad scored in the shootout for the Senators.
Senators team scope: Andrew Hammond will start, goaltending coach Rick Wamsley said, according to TSN 1200. "[Hammond] is going to get some playing time the rest of the [season] here, so it will be a good opportunity for him to get some consistent ice time to see what he can do and get some kind of rhythm going." Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch (undisclosed) skated Tuesday; he has missed the past seven games and is not expected to play. The Senators begin a three-game road trip. "We're not going to quit," forward Curtis Lazar said. "I think we have two young hockey teams going at it [Wednesday]. I think the big thing for each team is that you want to push and set yourself up well for next [season]."
Jets team scope: Winnipeg did not practice Tuesday after a 3-2 overtime road loss against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. Coach Paul Maurice has not confirmed a starting goaltender. Michael Hutchinson and Ondrej Pavelec have alternated the past three starts. Pavelec to a leg to his head late in the third period but remained in the game. "We'll see tomorrow how we are going to feel but with a few minutes left, I had no reason to [leave the game]." Winnipeg starts its final homestand having won six of its past 21 home games (6-13-2). Right wing Blake Wheeler has a five-game point streak (two goals, four assists). Center Mark Scheifele has a four-game point streak (two goals, four assists). Winnipeg is without five regulars in the lineup and has 223 man-games lost to injury.
