Season series: The Florida Panthers have defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs twice by a 9-2 combined score. Forward Jussi Jokinen had a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win at BB&T Center on Jan. 26 and had two goals in a 4-1 win at Air Canada Centre on March 17. Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo (2-0-0) has allowed two goals on 56 shots. Forward Nazem Kadri and defenseman Morgan Rielly scored for Toronto.

Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto will play its second game in as many nights following a 3-0 loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. The Maple Leafs were 0-for-7 on the power play and are 3-for-32 with the man-advantage over their past nine games. They are 11-for-115 on the road. "Can't score," coach Mike Babcock said. "Their goalie was really good (Monday). We had a point-blank chance, we had three open nets, we couldn't score. We've got to score. You can't win without scoring." Goalie Jonathan Bernier likely will start after Garret Sparks played against the Lightning.

Panthers team scope: Derek MacKenzie (foot) and defenseman Erik Gudbranson (lower body) are each close to returning to the lineup, according to the Miami Herald. MacKenzie hasn't played since March 12 and Gudbranson has not played since March 14. Florida has seven games remaining, all against teams not currently in a Stanley Cup Playoff position. "They're all playing over-.500 over their past 10 games," coach Gerard Gallant told the Miami Herald. "Those teams are playing well, their guys are playing for jobs. We're nowhere yet. We want to finish as high as we can, and those two points every night will be important." The Panthers are tied with the Lightning atop the Atlantic Division. General manager Dale Tallon stressed the importance playing well to end the regular season. "We had some tough ones here and now it's time to get rested and ready for Tuesday," Tallon said. "We got four big points in Boston and Tampa and now we can't waste them. We have to be ready Tuesday, have to be focused. We have a good group here and they understand that." The Panthers have won their past two games, outscoring opponents 9-3.
