The Edmonton Oilers on Monday signed defenseman Brandon Davidson and goaltender Laurent Brossoit to two-year contracts.
Davidson and Brossoit were scheduled to become restricted free agents on July 1. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Sportsnet reported the average annual value of Davidson's contract is $1.425 million and Brossit's average annual value is $750,000.
Davidson, 24, has four goals and 10 points in 47 games this season, his first full season in the NHL. A sixth-round pick (No. 162) in the 2010 NHL Draft, he made his NHL debut with the Oilers in 2014-15 and had one goal in 12 games.
Brossoit, 22, is 0-1-1 in two NHL games for the Oilers. He became the backup to Cam Talbot when Anders Nilsson was traded to the St. Louis Blues last week. Brossoit went 15-9-3 in 28 games for Bakersfield of the American Hockey League this season with a 2.69 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.
