FLAMES (26-31-4) at FLYERS (28-22-11)
TV: 7 p.m. ET; SNW, CSN-PH, NHL.TV
Season series: Mikael Backlund scored 35 seconds into overtime and Karri Ramo made 26 saves to help the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers at Scotiabank Saddledome on Nov. 5. Josh Jooris scored for Calgary and Michael Raffl scored for Philadelphia.
Flames team scope: Amidst trade speculation, defenseman Kris Russell was scratched for the 6-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. It was the seventh consecutive game Russell, who has a lower-body injury, has missed. "There are no mixed messages," coach Bob Hartley told the Calgary Herald. "Remember the night of the Jarome Iginla (trade)? We said Jarome Iginla was scratched. We didn't say Jarome Iginla was injured. We would never put Kris Russell in a situation where he's lying. Kris Russell has an injury." This will be the first game for the Flames since trading forward Jiri Hudler to the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Forward Johnny Gaudreau has 11 points (eight assists) in his past seven games. The 22-year-old tied his career high with 24 goals this season and is two points shy of the 64 points he had during his rookie season in 2014-15. "I think I've gotten off to a great start to my career here," he said. "Hopefully I can keep that going, keep improving, keep getting better. Hopefully it's just the start."
Flyers team scope: Forward Jakub Voracek is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The Flyers' second-leading scorer missed the 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday, ending his streak of 286 consecutive games played. He was seen after the game wearing a walking boot on his left foot. Captain Claude Giroux scored in the first period -- for his 500th NHL point -- in his first game back following a three-game absence because of an upper-body injury. "You want to be part of the boys and be able to help them win," he said. "To be back and get a win like this it feels good." Scott Laughton, Sam Gagner and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also scored as Philadelphia won its second straight of a six-game homestand. "Everybody's got to chip in a little bit," coach Dave Hakstol told the Flyers website. "… You have to have that at this time of year. Whether it's through injuries or other things you have to have some depth and balance in all areas of the game."
