CANADIENS (30-27-5) at SHARKS (33-22-6)
TV: 10:30 p.m. ET; RDS, SNE, CSN-CA; NHL.TV
Season series: Joe Pavelski had a goal and an assist to help the San Jose Sharks to a 3-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Dec. 15. Sharks goalie Martin Jones made 26 saves. Forward Dale Weise scored for Montreal.
Canadiens team scope: Luck hasn't been on Montreal's side at SAP Center; the Canadiens have lost their past eight games in San Jose. "I don't know what it is [about that place]," captain Max Pacioretty said. "They're a big team. They win a lot of draws. But it's always a good challenge to try to break the mindset and mold of not being able to play in a building. It gives you a little extra motivation to go out there and play against a big, strong team and try to get the win ourselves." Goalie Mike Condon is expected to start Monday.
Sharks team scope: San Jose returns home after a 4-1 win at the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. It is unknown if goalie James Reimer, who was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, will make his Sharks debut Monday. Reimer was 11-12-3 with a 2.49 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage for Toronto this season. Martin Jones started his eighth straight game Sunday and has played 15 of the past 16 games. Aaron Dell was Jones' backup against the Canucks.
