Season series: The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-3, on Nov. 10. Canucks forward Henrik Sedin had two goals and an assist; Daniel Sedin and Jannik Hansen each had a goal and three assists. Forward Boone Jenner had a goal and an assist, and forward Ryan Johansen, now playing for the Nashville Predators, had two assists for Columbus.
Blue Jackets team scope: This is the second of a three-game trip to Western Canada for Columbus that concludes Friday against the Calgary Flames. Defenseman David Savard, who has an abdominal strain, practiced Wednesday, but will not play in Vancouver. Joonas Korpisalo has started the past five games in goal for the Blue Jackets, and seven of the past eight. He is 4-2-1 in his past seven starts, having allowed 15 goals. He allowed all the goals in the 5-1 defeat to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, the first time in that span he allowed more than two. Coach John Tortorella returns to Vancouver for the first time since he coached the Canucks in the 2013-14 season.
Canucks team scope: Vancouver defenseman Dan Hamhuis is expected to play after missing 20 games with facial fractures. Henrik Sedin expects to play after missing four games because of a shoulder injury. The Canucks begin their post-All Star break schedule two points behind the Anaheim Ducks for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division and will play 10 of their next 13 games at home; 8 of 11 in February. "We're healthy, we have a good schedule. We just have to take care of business," Daniel Sedin told the Canucks website. "We know we can be a really good team when everyone's going, and we're going to have to bring it [Thursday]."
