Season series: The Nashville Predators won two of three games against the Vancouver Canucks last season. Predators forward Filip Forsberg had two goals and an assist in Nashville's 3-1 win on Nov. 2, 2014. Forward Colin Wilson had two goals and two assists in Nashville's 5-1 win on Jan. 13, 2015. The Canucks avoided a season sweep with a 5-4 shootout win on March 31, 2015.
Predators team scope: Nashville has won the first two games of a four-game road trip, the first time the Predators have won consecutive games since Dec. 19-21. "We're going into Vancouver [on Tuesday]," forward Mike Fisher told The Tennessean. "There's no reason why we can't beat them and keep rolling." Fisher's goal Saturday in a 4-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers ended a 13-game scoreless drought. Goaltender Pekka Rinne has stopped 49 of 51 shots, allowing one or fewer goals in consecutive starts for the first time since Nov. 12-14. Defenseman Mattias Ekholm has seen increased ice time since Nashville traded defenseman Seth Jones to the Columbus Blue Jackets for center Ryan Johansen. Ekholm is averaging 22:26, up from 18:15, over the past eight games and scored two goals in a game for the first time in his NHL career Saturday.
Canucks team scope: Vancouver center Brandon Sutter will play after missing 33 games with a sports hernia. Sutter, who was injured Nov. 10 and had surgery Dec. 1, skated with the Canucks' top line during practice Monday, replacing injured center Henrik Sedin. "I'm excited to get a game in and get playing again and get my feet under me again," Sutter told the Canucks website. Sedin (undisclosed) should resume practicing after the All-Star break, coach Willie Desjardins said. Defenseman Dan Hamhuis, who has been out with injury (facial fractures) since Dec. 9, practiced wearing a full cage and hopes to return after the break. The Canucks will play 11 of their next 16 games at Rogers Arena.
