HURRICANES (16-17-7) at CANUCKS (15-16-9)

TV: FS-CR, SNP

Season series: The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Carolina Hurricanes twice last season. Canucks goalie Ryan Miller made 29 saves to earn his 300th NHL win and Brad Richardson scored two goals in a 4-1 win on Oct. 28, 2014 at Rogers Arena. Miller had 28 saves and Kevin Bieksa had two assists in a 3-0 victory on Jan. 16 at PNC Arena. Jiri Tlusty had one goal for the Hurricanes.

Hurricanes team scope: Goalie Eddie Lack, who turned 28 on Tuesday, will start and returns to Vancouver for the first time since being traded on June 26. Lack had 34 wins and a 2.43 goals-against average in 82 games (72 starts) for the Canucks from 2013-15. "If there's one game I've been looking at on the calendar, it's the Vancouver game," Lack told the News & Observer. Lack is 4-0-2 in his past six starts including wins against the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals. Rookie forward Phil Di Giuseppe sustained a concussion Saturday against the Nashville Predators, the Hurricanes confirmed Tuesday. Di Giuseppe, who has three goals and five assists in 14 games, is day-to-day. Carolina recalled forward Brock McGinn from Charlotte of the American Hockey League. He has two goals and one assists in 14 NHL games this season.

Canucks team scope: Miller (groin), defensemen Alexander Edler (flu), Luca Sbisa (hand) and Dan Hamhuis (facial surgery), and forward Brandon Sutter (sports hernia surgery) did not practice Tuesday. Left wing Daniel Sedin practiced after losing four teeth when he was hit in the mouth by a puck in a 3-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. Coach Willie Desjardins said left wings Sven Baertschi (neck) and Brandon Prust (leg) should play Wednesday. "Today in practice I think was the first time I felt really involved and felt I was ready to go," Baertschi told the Canucks website Tuesday. "It was bad timing with the injury, but I'm glad I didn't miss too much. I still feel like I did before -- confident and ready to go." Left wing Ronalds Kenins and right wing Alexandre Grenier were reassigned to Utica of the AHL on Tuesday.
