Glenn Howard will have a chance at a 16th Brier appearance as the 53-year-old skip and his Penetanguishene, ON rink qualified for the Ontario Tankard on Sunday.
Howard, along with third Wayne Middaugh, second Richard Hart and lead (and son) Scott Howard beat Team Michael Shepherd of Richmond Hill 7-4 in Region 2 on Sunday to punch his ticket to the Ontario Tankard from Feb. 1-7 in Brantford.
The four-time Brier and world champion failed to qualify for the provincial championships last season for the first time since 2003. He hasn't played in the Canadian championship since 2013.
Howard brought in Middaugh and his son Scott this year, replacing Jon Mead and longtime lead Craig Savill respectively. The new foursome has yet to win a tournament, but have had some strong showings and sit ninth on the money list with $39, 500 in winnings. They also sit eighth on the CTRS rankings.
Howard joins the likes of Mike Harris, John Epping and other Ontario rinks who will battle for the right to represent the province at the 2016 Brier in Ottawa from March 5-13.
