CANADIENS (22-15-3) at FLYERS (15-15-7)

TV: NBCSN, RDS, SNE, CSN-PH

Season series: The Montreal Canadiens swept three games from the Philadelphia Flyers last season. On Oct. 11, 2014, PA Parenteau scored the game-deciding goal in a 4-3 shootout win at Wells Fargo Center. Parenteau and Dale Weise each scored two goals in a 6-3 win Nov. 15, 2014 at Bell Centre. David Desharnais scored at 3:27 of overtime for a 2-1 win Feb. 10, 2015 at Bell Centre. Andrei Markov led the Canadiens with six points in three games. Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds each had two goals and one assist in three games.

Canadiens team scope: Goaltender Ben Scrivens will start his second game for Montreal. He was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 28 and made 27 saves in a 3-1 loss to the Florida Panthers the next night. "I'm very excited to play tomorrow in Philly," Scrivens told the Canadiens website. Scrivens and Mike Condon will split time until Carey Price returns. Coach Michel Therrien said Price's rehabilitation from a lower-body injury is going well but he isn't ready to skate yet. On Nov. 30 the Canadiens said Price would need six weeks to recover from the injury; Monday marked five weeks since that announcement. Weise did not practice Monday; he sustained an upper-body injury Friday during the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic. Sven Andrighetto and Devante Smith-Pelly rotated in Weise's spot on a line with David Desharnais and Tomas Fleischmann at practice Monday. Therrien would not confirm which player would skate there Tuesday.

Flyers team scope: Philadelphia had a new top line at practice Monday, with center Claude Giroux between left wing Jakub Voracek and Simmonds at right wing. Voracek and Simmonds had been playing with center Sean Couturier but on Monday he was centering left wing Michael Raffl and Schenn on right wing. The Flyers also had eight healthy defensemen on the ice at practice. Coach Dave Hakstol had seven in the lineup Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings, with forward Matt Read a healthy scratch. Hakstol said Monday he is undecided on what the lineup could look like Tuesday. "I'm not saying whether we will or not [go with seven defensemen Tuesday]," he told the Courier-Post. "I think there's benefits to it. We'll just make the best decision as we go into each game day."
