{allcanada} Blues, Maple Leafs score two goals in five seconds

The St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs scored goals five seconds apart in the second period Saturday.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored a power-play goal for St. Louis at 8:28. James van Riemsdyk followed for Toronto at 8:33.

Tarasenko shot from his knees in the right circle and beat Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier.

St. Louis then won the faceoff back, but the puck was mishandled by defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Van Riemsdyk got the loose puck and took a wrist shot from above the circles that beat Jake Allen to tie the game 1-1.

The NHL record for fastest two goals is two seconds, by St. Louis and the Boston Bruins on Dec. 19, 1987, at 19:50 and 19:52 of the third period. Ken Linseman scored for the Bruins and Doug Gilmour for the Blues.
