Season series: The New Jersey Devils rallied for a 5-4 shootout win against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Oct. 22. Lee Stempniak scored the tying goal with 32 seconds left in the third period, then got the deciding goal in the shootout.
Devils team scope: Starting goaltender Cory Schneider will play after Keith Kinkaid made 26 saves in a 3-2 home victory against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. "We talked about wanting to get back to our identity, play hard and play for each other," said defenseman David Schlemko, whose goal with 3:05 remaining in the third period broke a 2-2 tie. New Jersey will try to end 2015 by winning back-to-back games for the first time since Nov. 12-14; it is 8-8-4 since.
Senators team scope: Ottawa may start backup goaltender Andrew Hammond in the second half of the back-to-back after starter Craig Anderson allowed seven goals on 37 shots in a 7-3 road loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. Anderson has faced a League-high 1,010 shots this season. Coach Dave Cameron wasn't happy after surrendering a season-high in goals and allowing Boston to score four goals with the extra man; his power play went 0-for-4. "I hate losing and I lost, so it was a bad taste," Cameron said. "Upset, whatever. I hate losing."
