BLACKHAWKS (6-3-0) at JETS (5-3-1)

TV: CSN-CH, TSN3

Season series: The Winnipeg Jets won three of five games against the Chicago Blackhawks in 2014-15, but were 0-1-1 at MTS Centre. Jonathan Toews scored with 30.8 seconds left to give Chicago its only regulation win, 4-3 in Winnipeg on March 29. Captain Andrew Ladd led the Jets with seven points (one goal) in the five games.

Blackhawks team scope: Chicago brings a four-game winning streak, all without star defenseman Duncan Keith, into the first of back-to-back games; the Blackhawks visit the Minnesota Wild on Friday. Goaltender Corey Crawford, coming off back-to-back 1-0 victories in overtime, is expected to start. Rookie forward Tanner Kero practiced with Chicago for the first time Wednesday after being recalled from Rockford of the American Hockey League on Tuesday. He centered the third line with Teuvo Teravainen and Ryan Garbutt and is likely to make his NHL debut against the Jets. Kero had six goals in seven games with Rockford. "When you win you usually don't make many changes but it's a good opportunity based on how well he played," coach Joel Quenneville told CSN Chicago. "We liked him in camp; we thought he played well in the exhibition games. We like him in the middle, like his quickness." Chicago recalled defenseman Erik Gustafsson from Rockford on Wednesday, but he is not expected to dress Thursday. Gustafsson had one assist in eight AHL games.

Jets team scope: Winnipeg is 2-2-1 entering the finale of a six-game homestand. Coach Paul Maurice has not named a starting goaltender for Thursday, but Ondrej Pavelec is expected to start. "[Chicago] is a really interesting team to watch on video," Maurice said. "They get the puck in the offensive zone, and there is nobody that does what they do. [If] they get the puck in the offensive zone, they're not giving it back to you easily. The video can make you a little uneasy, for sure." Rookie forward Nikolaj Ehlers has started with four goals in nine games in a third-line role and has a three-game goal streak. The Jets begin a four-game road trip Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
