ANAHEIM -- Calgary Flames forwards Jiri Hudler and Micheal Ferland are day-to-day with undisclosed injuries sustained Thursday in Game 1 of the Western Conference Second Round against the Anaheim Ducks, coach Bob Hartley said.

"We will re-evaulate them [Friday]," Hartley said.

Hudler played three shifts in the second period and did not return in a 6-1 loss to the Ducks at Honda Center. His three goals and six points in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games leads the Flames.

Ferland did not play after the first period. He was struck high when teammate David Jones checked Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen into him behind the net. Ferland also collided with Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Ferland has become a physical force for Calgary and a fan favorite after he replaced injured forward Lance Bouma.

Flames left wing Johnny Gaudreau did not play in the third period, but Hartley said the Calder Trophy finalist is not injured. Gaudreau was cross-checked by Anaheim center Nate Thompson in the second period.

"I just rested Johnny," Hartley said. "I felt they were taking way too many liberties on him, and I thought that [with the score], I just kept him on the bench."

Game 2 of the best-of-7 series is Sunday at Honda Center (10 p.m. ET; CNBC, SN, TVA Sports).

{allcanada} Ducks overpower Flames in series opener

ANAHEIM -- There was no third-period drama between the Calgary Flames and Anaheim Ducks.

Corey Perry had two goals and two assists and Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and three assists to help Anaheim overpower Calgary 6-1 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Second Round on Thursday at Honda Center.

Game 2 of the best-of-7 series is Sunday at Honda Center (10 p.m. ET; CNBC, SN, TVA Sports).

Perry gave Anaheim leads of 3-0 and 5-0, the latter on a power-play goal 44 seconds into the third period when he took Getzlaf's pass, skated down the left side and beat Flames goalie Karri Ramo. Perry's four points tied his own franchise Stanley Cup Playoffs single-game record set in Game 1 of the first round.

Getzlaf matched him by scoring a power-play goal at 2:32 of the third period for a 6-0 lead.

The Ducks and Flames were among the NHL leaders in third-period comebacks, but Calgary's lone goal came from rookie Sam Bennett, who scored at 9:16 of the third period when the puck ticked off the skate of Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin and onto his stick for a slap shot that ended Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen's bid for his first playoff shutout.

Things couldn't have gone much worse for Calgary, which pulled goalie Jonas Hiller early in the second period after he allowed three goals on 14 shots in his first playoff game against his former team. The Flames also lost left wing Micheal Ferland and right wing Jiri Hudler to undisclosed injuries, and left wing Johnny Gaudreau did not play in the third.

Including the playoffs, Calgary has lost 20 straight games at Honda Center since winning Game 3 of their first-round series in 2006.

The second period has been Anaheim's weakness all season, but Perry and Emerson Etem scored to give the Ducks a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Perry was left unguarded to skate from behind the net to the left side and easily score 2:13 into the second period, prompting Hiller's removal. At 10:11, Etem put in a loose puck off Beauchemin's shot, with Tim Jackman creating traffic in front, for his second goal in as many games.

Matt Beleskey and Patrick Maroon gave Anaheim a 2-0 lead after one period.

Beleskey tapped in a deft pass by Kyle Palmieri from behind the goal line at 10:17 after the Ducks penned the Flames in their zone. Maroon chipped Getzlaf's backhand pass from the corner past Hiller at 13:11 after the top line cycled down low and Maroon outmuscled Matt Stajan in front of the net.

Anaheim killed nearly three minutes of Calgary power-play time in the opening 10 minutes because of cross-checking and high-sticking penalties by Perry, and Andersen stopped Josh Jooris on a breakaway early in the game.

{allcanada} Sotheby's mixes up Drake's music picks for exhibition

Sotheby's tapped rapper Drake to curate the musical pairings for a new exhibition, "I Like It Like This," at its S|2 contemporary art division, but the auction house played the wrong track list for its press preview of the project.

The exhibition includes works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kara Walker, Tony Lewis and other contemporary African-American artists, paired with hip-hop songs chosen by the 28-year-old Canadian rapper. But during the press preview Tuesday afternoon, Sotheby's played Kendrick Lamar's "F - - k Your Ethnicity," Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money," and Young Thug's "Strange Things" out of order.

The soundtrack snafu wasn't noticed until after some news outlets had published stories with the wrong song lineup. Sotheby's issued a release with the right musical pairings shortly after, and writers had to re-edit their stories with the new info.

A rep for Sotheby's admitted it "initially mismatched as a result of an error at Sotheby's, but they've all been worked out now." A Drake rep declined to comment.

CLEVELAND - Kevin Pillar's two-run double highlighted a big fourth inning and Toronto's bullpen worked the final six innings, leading the Blue Jays to a 5-1 win over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.

The Blue Jays, the highest-scoring team in the American League, broke open a scoreless game with a five-run inning.

Blue Jays starter Daniel Norris lasted only three innings, but Jeff Francis, Roberto Ozuna, Aaron Loup and Brett Cecil finished it off. Francis (1-0) allowed one run in 2 1-3 innings.

TJ House (0-4) didn't allow a hit through three innings, but couldn't retire a batter in the fourth when the first five hitters reached base and scored.

The Indians, predicted to contend for a playoff spot, end April with a 7-14 record, the worst in the AL. Cleveland is 1-9 when scoring three runs or fewer and has lost nine of 13.

{allcanada} Mike Babcock's decision is key to NHL coaching moves

The most coveted impact player in this summer's NHL free-agent marketplace will be someone who won't log a minute of ice time next season.

Within minutes of the Detroit Red Wings being knocked out of the playoffs, Twitter was abuzz with chatter about where Mike Babcock will be coaching next season. His contract expires in June, and the demand for his services will be as strong as if he were a 50-goal scorer.

The bidding for Babcock, a two-time Olympic gold winner for Canada and a former Stanley Cup champion, was anticipated. What no one could have predicted is that there might be as many as eight teams looking for coaches when Babcock decides whether to re-sign in Detroit or explore his options.

The San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers are already looking for new coaches, while the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders, St. Louis Blues and Edmonton Oilers haven't made any final decisions.

Babcock, 52, has a good situation in Detroit, where his team is competitive, and he has quality prospects Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha on the horizon. Owners Mike and Marian Ilitch have a long history of paying their talent well. They undoubtedly would push him up to $3 million or better, making him the highest-paid NHL coach. Certainly Babcock is aware that he has an opportunity to raise the bar for NHL coaches. What he signs for will have an impact on future coach salaries and likely will have a trickle-down effect on coaches who get extensions.

If Babcock wanted the biggest payday, the Maple Leafs would be highly attractive. But the Maple Leafs' rebuilding efforts are just under way, and it could be a few seasons before this team contends.

The most intriguing option might be the Edmonton Oilers because they are going to draft Connor McDavid, who could have a Sidney Crosby-like impact on the league. Plus, they have a cadre of young skillful forwards in Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Nail Yakupov and Jordan Eberle.

Babcock is a proud Canadian, originally from Saskatchewan, and he could be excited about coaching a team in western Canada. The Oilers' franchise is now under the command of Bob Nicholson, the former Hockey Canada boss. He was witness to Babcock's impact on the Olympic team.

The Buffalo Sabres could also be attractive. Although Buffalo is perceived as a small-market team, the Sabres are owned by Terry Pegula, a multibillionaire who also bought the NFL's Buffalo Bills. In addition, Babcock knows Buffalo GM Tim Murray from their days together in Anaheim.

The Sabres will be drafting Jack Eichel, and they have an enviable collection of young talent as well, which includes center Sam Reinhart.

No one is ruling out Babcock staying in Detroit. What he said Wednesday night that he will talk with the media about his status when the Red Wings gather for the final time this season to clean out their lockers and take the team photo.

The wait to see what Babcock will do is having an impact on the marketplace where there are several quality candidates:

Todd McLellan: A former Babcock assistant in Detroit and head coach in San Jose, McLellan is probably the hottest candidate after Babcock. He will land one of these jobs, and he likely will have multiple offers. He's a bright, well-prepared, insightful coach. He's expected to be a candidate in Toronto, Buffalo and Edmonton. The Sabres should also be interested in Luke Richardson, whom Murray knows from their days together in Ottawa. He coaches now in the American Hockey League.

Ken Hitchcock: He's in the last season of his contract in St. Louis, and the Blues might be looking to make a change because this contending team has been knocked out of the playoffs in the first round for three consecutive seasons. Hitchcock is 62, but he has a history of improving teams quickly and making them difficult to play against. But his style does seem to wear on players. If he wants to continue coaching, he probably will land somewhere.

Dan Bylsma: After sitting out the season, Bylsma has to be eager to get back in the game. Let's not forget that he has a championship ring, and he won that in his first NHL coaching system. He's presumably a better coach now than he was when he won the Cup. His last job was with the highly skilled, Sidney Crosby-led Penguins. If the Islanders make a change, would he be a good fit to work with John Tavares and company?

Jeff Blashill: He's the hot AHL coach. To understand his potential, just look at what Jon Cooper has done with the Lightning. Similar modern approach and personalities. The Red Wings signed him to a three-year contract last season, and it's assumed he will replace Babcock at some point. But if Babcock stays, he might be a good fit in San Jose or with the Islanders.

Claude Julien: He still has a job in Boston, but they are looking for a new GM. If there is any doubt about keeping him, the Bruins should make the respectful decision to let him look elsewhere. He could reunite with Peter Chiarelli in Edmonton. He would seem like a good fit for Philadelphia. The Flyers also presumably would be interested in Arizona Coyotes coach Dave Tippett if he becomes available. Media outlets said he has an out clause in his contract that he could exercise.

{allcanada} Hawaii Five-0: Grace Park Talks Kono's Stormy Adventure, Rollins' Return

Hawaii Five-0 Preview Grace Park

Hawaii Five-0's Grace Park is endeavoring to explain just how cold it can get when filming a scene out on the water surrounding our 50th state (not that we ever doubted her a bit).

"I know — it's Hawaii, so you think, 'What's she talking about?' But why don't I put you in my little outfit and put the north winds on you for a few hours, and see how you do!" she contends, letting out a laugh.

Park's brief lesson in Hawaii weather systems came as she related the most arduous part of filming this Friday's episode (CBS, 9/8c), in which Kono sets out to fulfill her mother's own, onetime wish, to circle the islands solo on an outrigger.

"It doesn't go as smoothly as she thinks it's going to go," Park previews. "She's on what is essentially a three-man boat, but you could do it by yourself, if you had glassy water. You definitely don't want 20-foot waves." Alas, Kono runs into a storm that she predicted would pass in a different direction, setting the stage for a grueling odyssey at sea.

Filmed partly on the open ocean, partly adjacent to a sand bar, and with a bit of pool work thrown in (for the most intense sequences), "The episode really is an experiential one," Park says. "The audiences goes with Kono, which is almost like traveling the psyche with someone. Because if you're lost out at sea, there are a lot of head games happening, lots of fears you have to battle, maybe from hallucinations…. You're your only company out there, so you run the gamut of emotions and thoughts, about living and dying."

And though the actress will underscore for you the chill the aforementioned north winds can bring, Park makes clear the end result of this extreme outing was a joyous thrill. "Yeah, it was a little insane when they dump like 70 gallons of water on you from above and you have water cannons and wind machines and wave machines in the pool, and rain towers — but it was still fun," she asserts. "It feels really, really good to just apply yourself and work hard towards a result in one episode," versus across a whole season. "It's more rewarding."

Regardless of whether she circles the islands as planned, Kono gains "a life experience" through the ordeal, Park says. She also presumably survives, seeing as the back half of the double-episode finale (airing May 8) marks the day of Kono's wedding to Adam. With a loose nuclear bomb being chased by the Five-0 team — and perhaps for other reasons — "It's debatable whether the wedding goes off or not," Park teases. Then again, she notes, "It's not an episode about a wedding," since the producers didn't wish to serve up a replica of Chin Ho's own big day. "That was actually kind of refreshing in some ways," the actress says. She then adds with a chuckle, "But I actually did feel a bit ripped off. Like, 'What? OK….'"

The wedding episode (that's not about a wedding) also marks the return of Michelle Borth as Catherine Rollins, teasing a scenario where Park isn't the series' lone female crimefighter. (Amanda Setton has recurred this season as M.E. Dr. Mindy Shaw.) "They tried a number of times — Michelle I think was the third one? — to have a female be a part of Five-0, so when she left I did feel a bit like, 'I guess it's not happening,'" Park laments. As such, "I was completely shocked that Michelle was coming back. I even told her that, because I was really surprised.

"It's a strange thing," Park says of the revolving door of women. "I don't know why it has gone this way, but for whatever reason it has." Which is not to knock any of the male series regulars that were added this season. "They're lovely and funny and awesome — there are no complaints there," she says. But despite all of Chi McBride's considerable talents, we point out, he's just not a woman. "No, he's not!" Park concurs with a laugh. "And the same with Jorge Garcia. They're both very male!"

Nashville'syoungest star Maisy Stella recently sang on-camera for the first time without her sister, but one first she's not ready for? Kissing!

Maisy and her sister Lennon recently stopped by TVGuide.com to perform and chat about their new children's book In the Waves --yes, they wrote a book. When the topic of their ABC series came up, the conversation turned to Lennon's first on-camera makeout with Colt (Keean Johnson). Blushing about this week's episode when Deacon (Charles Esten) found Maddie and Colt getting dressed following, well, something happening, Lennon tells us she refused to let her entire family watch it. Eleven-year-old Maisy, meanwhile, was totally OK with that. Watch the video above to see her get completely grossed out by the whole thing and proclaim that she'll never have her first kiss on camera. Warning: They're adorable.

MINNEAPOLIS - Canadian Andrew Wiggins is the NBA's top rookie.

The native of Vaughan, Ont., captured the award after averaging 16.9 points and 4.6 rebounds this season.

Wiggins played in all 82 regular-season games with the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 39 minutes per contest.

Wiggins was selected first overall by Cleveland in last summer's NBA draft before being packaged in a deal that sent Kevin Love to the Cavaliers.

After finding his way early, Wiggins averaged 19.1 points per game after Jan. 1 and scored 23.3 points over his final 13 regular-season contests.

Thunderous dunks over Utah centre Rudy Gobert and New Orleans' Omer Asik the final month of the season were highlights for a Minnesota team that posted a league-worst 16-66 record.

{allcanada} Canadiens X-factor Markov important to power play

Get Paid To Work From Home / Grey's Anatomy / James Dean

BROSSARD, Quebec -- Andrei Markov got off on the wrong foot in this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs when he scored the first goal of the Montreal Canadiens' Eastern Conference First Round series against the Ottawa Senators.

The defenseman's own-goal on Carey Price in Game 1 of Montreal's six-game series win set the tone for the 36-year-old Russian's play against Ottawa.

"Yeah, I know I have to be better," Markov said after practice Wednesday. "Those things happen and there's no question that I have to be better and I will try to be better next series, and try to look forward and move forward."

Markov, who had one assist against Ottawa, is a key component of Montreal's power play, which was completely ineffective during the first round with one goal in 20 opportunities.

After playing with regular defense partner P.K. Subban on the Canadiens' first power-play unit against the Senators, Markov was paired with Tom Gilbert on the second unit at practice Thursday when Montreal prepared for Game 1 of ithe Eastern Conference Second Round against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Bell Centre on Friday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports).

Left wing Max Pacioretty said Markov makes important contributions even when he's at less than his best.

"Andrei is probably the most important skater on this team, and what I mean by that is he makes everything go," Pacioretty said. "He makes the power play go, even if he's not touching the puck. He's just the smartest player I've ever played with, and I think he played well. Obviously he's hard on himself, but I think going forward he probably has more."

Rookie defenseman Greg Pateryn said he has learned something from Markov every day.

"He's an unbelievable player," Pateryn said. "He can definitely change the momentum of a series with just his play alone. He just kind of controls the game out there. He's just so poised, he's never running around, but he makes hits when he needs to and his passing is unbelievable. And just the way he sees the ice, and opponents know that too, but he does a good job of countering that as well."

Subban, who won the Norris Trophy in 2012-13 and was named a finalist Monday for the second time, said Markov has the ability to change a game.

"He's so dynamic and he sees the ice so well that he can find guys out there, and the way he moves the puck out of the zone, the plays that he makes, the poise that he exudes on the ice, it kind of calms everything down and he can make some great plays," Subban said.

Subban also stood up for his defense partner's contributions to the Canadiens' first-round win.

"We've seen it for a long time now, so I don't think it's any secret what he can do out there, but at the same token we need to support each other," Subban said. "We can't expect Carey to make 70 saves every night, we can't expect [Pacioretty] to score a hat trick every night, we can't expect [Markov] to play 35 minutes every night and be at his best for all 35 minutes; I mean, that's not fair. Everybody's got to step up and elevate their game, so it's really a group thing right now as we continue to look forward to [Friday] night as we want to play our best game of the season."
