Jermain Defoe's future with Toronto FC continues to be surrounded by doubt, as multiple Premier League clubs remain interested in the 32-year-old forward.

TSN Soccer Analyst Luke Wileman is reporting that Defoe is training with his old club, Tottenham Hotspur, and will continue training for at least the next week following off-season groin surgery.

However, there may be a new international signing on his way to Toronto FC.

Toronto FC coach Greg Vanney told the Toronto Sun that the club is in the running to sign American striker Jozy Altidore from Sunderland of the Premier League.

"We'll throw our hat in the ring," said Vanney.

Vanney's coaching staff will have a new addition next season.  Robin Fraser will be joining the club as an assistant coach after spending the last two seasons with the New York Red Bulls, who he helped advance to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2014.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the tremendous staff at TFC and I am looking forward to contributing to what I am convinced will be a very successful project," said Fraser. "I would like to thank Greg and Tim Bezbatchenko for the opportunity to be a part of their vision."
