Season series: The Winnipeg Jets have defeated the Dallas Stars twice on the road. Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec made 46 saves in a 2-1 win at American Airlines Center on Jan. 15.

Stars team scope: Dallas finishes a three-game Canada road trip after ending a two-game losing streak with a 6-3 win against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Dallas is four points behind the Calgary Flames for the second wild card from the Western Conference into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dallas had an optional practice in Winnipeg on Friday; goaltender Kari Lehtonen did not participate while backup goaltender Anders Lindback skated, according to the Dallas Morning News. The newspaper reported Lehtonen, who has allowed at least three goals in eight of his past nine starts, is likely to start. Defenseman Jordie Benn was a healthy scratch Thursday; David Schlemko dressed for his second consecutive game. Left wing Erik Cole (upper body) has missed the past two games, and right wing Brett Ritchie (undisclosed) has missed the past five. Dallas plays six of its next nine games on the road but begins a two-game homestand Feb. 3 against the Colorado Avalanche.

Jets team scope: A win Saturday would give Winnipeg its first four-game home winning streak since November 2013. Winnipeg lost 5-2 at the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday; the five goals tied a season-high allowed. "We're trying to do more than we need to do with the puck," coach Paul Maurice told the Jets website Friday. "The theme was that we got caught going north when [Philadelphia] was going south." Left wing TJ Galiardi cleared waivers Friday and was assigned to St. John's of the American Hockey League; later Friday, the Jets placed right wing Matt Halischuk (undisclosed) on injured reserve and recalled Galiardi to take Halischuk's place on the roster, giving Winnipeg nine defenseman and 12 forwards. Pavelec is expected to start as Maurice continues his goaltending rotation. The Jets begin a two-game road trip Feb. 2 against Calgary.
