SENATORS (16-15-7) at FLYERS (14-18-7)

TV: RDS2, TSN5, CSN-PH

Season series: The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Ottawa Senators in two of three games last season, but the Senators won their most recent game. On Dec. 9, 2013 Jason Spezza scored the only goal in the shootout in a 5-4 Senators win at Canadian Tire Centre. Flyers forward Jakub Voracek had three goals and an assist in three games against the Senators, and Senators forward Clarke MacArthur had three goals and one assist in three games against the Flyers.

Senators team scope: Defenseman Marc Methot returned to the Senators on Monday after his conditioning stint with Binghamton of the American Hockey League but coach Dave Cameron said there is no timetable for Methot to return to the lineup. Methot has played two games this season because of hip and back injuries. "He [Methot] still has to work on some conditioning and some contact," Cameron said Monday, according to the Senators website. "We're trying to implement that now." Methot played one game for Binghamton. "The goal to go over there was just to see how it held up in a game and that I could get through a game," Methot said, according to the Senators website. "Not come back too soon and have to leave halfway through an NHL hockey game. I got what I needed. I know that [Binghamton] wasn't skating on Sunday and wasn't skating on Tuesday so it was better to come back here seeing as it's not too far of a drive and skate with the team. Get back into some NHL practices." Cameron said goalie Craig Anderson would start Tuesday.

Flyers team scope: General manager Ron Hextall said roster moves could be on the horizon if the Flyers don't start putting some wins together. The Flyers started their just-completed eight-game road trip 3-0 but then lost the final five games (0-4-1). They entered the week 10 points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. "We're not at the point where we're looking at getting rid of guys, but I would say that probably we're not far from the point where if we don't get it going, we're going to have to start thinking about some things," Hextall said, according to CSNPhilly.com. Flyers captain Claude Giroux is questionable for Tuesday. He did not practice Monday, with the Flyers' top line consisting of Brayden Schenn centering Zac Rinaldo and Jakub Voracek. Giroux sustained a cut to the back of his left leg during a 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday and sat out the Flyers' 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils. Rookie center Scott Laughton also sat out Saturday because of a lower-body injury, but practiced Monday and could play Tuesday.
