Season series: The Ottawa Senators won two of three games against the Pittsburgh Penguins last season, with two of the three going to overtime. Pittsburgh scored a total of four goals in the three games, all by players no longer on the team (James Neal, Jussi Jokinen, Lee Stempniak and Brian Gibbons).

Senators team scope: After hosting Daniel Alfredsson's retirement ceremony on Thursday, Ottawa lost 2-1 at home against the New York Islanders. The Senators have lost four straight (0-3-1), and six of their past seven (1-5-1). Ottawa has scored 13 goals in that stretch and has been held to two or fewer goals in all but one of those games. "We've got to tidy up," Senators forward Bobby Ryan said Friday. "That's all you can really say about it. When you're not getting chances, do the simple things and go to the net. I'm just hoping someone shoots it in off me at this point."

Penguins team scope: The Penguins acquired forward Rob Klinkhammer from the Arizona Coyotes on Friday. In 19 games for Arizona this season Klinkhammer had three goals. He scored a career-high 11 in 72 games last season for the Coyotes. Patric Hornqvist, who exited Pittsburgh's game Thursday early with an injury, did not practice Friday and the team said he would be evaluated further. His status for Saturday is unknown. Pittsburgh was shut out for the second time this season when it lost 3-0 at home against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The Penguins' 21 shots on goal that game were a season low, and Pittsburgh's League-best power play (29.6 percent) failed to convert on its three opportunities.
