Season series: The Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks have split two games, with the road team winning each time. Flames goaltender Jonas Hiller survived a 50-shot barrage in the Flames' previous visit to United Center on Oct. 15 before Mikael Backlund's overtime goal lifted Calgary to a 2-1 victory.

Flames team scope: Calgary is trying to avoid being swept on a four-game road trip that has seen the Flames lose in regulation to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins. Calgary called up defenseman Corey Potter from the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League on Saturday; he'll take the place of Ladislav Smid, who was placed on injured reserve because of an upper-body injury. Overall, the Flames have dropped four in a row, including a 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks in their last home game before the trip, despite outshooting their opponent each time. If coach Bob Hartley follows his recent pattern of alternating goaltenders, Karri Ramo will start.

Blackhawks team scope: Chicago is back home after a 3-2 road loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday ended their eight-game winning streak. Chicago led twice, on goals by Daniel Carcillo and Patrick Kane, but was unable to hold off the Islanders in the third period. "This was a wake-up call for sure," Kane said. "We allowed too many chances. We will come back strong [Sunday]. Our goalie was great and gave us every chance." Scott Darling made 38 saves on a night the Blackhawks were outshot 41-25. Coach Joel Quenneville said Antti Raanta will start against the Flames; No. 1 goaltender Corey Crawford is still out because of a lower-body injury, but he skated Saturday and Quenneville said he's almost ready to return.
