#1, FLAC is a lossless container. If you put a lossy MP3 into it, you can retrieve that MP3 with no losses incurred. End of story. Secondly, if you wish to convert FLAC to a more Mac friendly type, use dbPowerAmp and convert it to ALAC which is Apple's rip-off of FLAC. The resulting ALAC files will then allow one to retrieve the original content un-molested. End of story...
