GLASGOW, Scotland — Canada earned its first ever singles lawn bowling silver medal at the Commonwealth Games today as Ryan Bester finished second in the men’s event.
Bester, 29, from Hanover, Ont., lost 21-9 to Scotland’s Darren Burnett in the men’s final.
Bester had a 3-0 lead after the first three ends before Burnett took over.
It’s the fourth Commonwealth Games appearance for Bester.
He won a bronze in singles at the 2006 Games in Melbourne, Australia.
Canada has never won a gold medal in any form of lawn bowling at the Commonwealth Games.
