The Vancouver Canucks re-signed Henrik and Daniel Sedin to matching four-year contract extensions Friday. Financial terms of the new contracts were not released, but multiple media reports valued each at $28 million.

The Sedin twins, 33, are in the final season of matching five-year, $30.5 million contracts, and would have become unrestricted free agents in July 2014. They will be 37 years old when their new contracts expire.

"Daniel and Henrik are exemplary leaders, teammates and humanitarians and we're very pleased to have them as part of our team for the long-term," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said in a statement. "Few players in the history of this club have had more significant roles in contributing to the success of this team and to our community and we look forward to many more years with their positive influence leading the way."

The Sedins have spent their entire careers in Vancouver since being drafted in 1999. Daniel was selected with the No. 2 pick and Henrik was selected with the No. 3 pick.

Henrik, the Canucks' captain, is the franchise's all-time leader in points (810), assists (625), plus/minus (plus-209) and consecutive games played (644). He also is second in franchise history in games played (955) and third in game-winning goals (33).

Daniel, an alternate captain, is second in franchise history in scoring with 773 points. He is Vancouver's all-time leader with 64 game-winning goals and 10 overtime goals.

The Sedins helped the Canucks reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, after Daniel won the Art Ross Trophy with a career-high 104 points during the regular season.

Henrik Sedin won the Hart Trophy and Art Ross Trophy in 2010 after posting a career-high 112 points during the 2009-10 regular season.

In addition to what they have done on the ice, the Sedins have extended their time and resources to the Vancouver community.

Earlier this season their families launched "Sedin Corner" at Rogers Arena for Canucks home games this season. It's a 14-person suite that hosts charities and groups from British Columbia that support children's health and education as well as family wellness.

The Sedins have supported more than 50 charities during their time in Vancouver. They made a $1.5 million donation to the B.C. Children's Hospital in 2010.
