AFAIK no. Once you update, you're done. I believe there was a hardware hack at one time for purchase. These machines are apparently on their last legs. Folks who use them for SACD typically do the rest of process on a pc to save whatever is left of their lives. With SACD-R support the nail is on the coffin-once the machines that can currently play it are gone that's likely to be it though dff and dsf seem to be enjoying a revival of sorts but no one knows for sure how that will go or how long it will last before it is replaced by something else--maybe a pcm system that retains more of the best analog sounding qualities will come down the pipe-or a solution like the Auralic comes down in price. That said if you own a disc finding an iso backup should not be a problem. Depends on how much you've invested in the DSD format for that to make real sense.
They aren't cheap and no guarantee you get the right unit with firmware that hasn't been updated in nearly a decade.
is it possible to use a downgraded PS3 with 3.55 to rip sacd?
The guys at computeraudiophile didn't know it exactly.
A 'new' 3.55 one would be really expensive...
Bye and thanks.
