[SurroundSound] Re: ReplayGain for DTS tracks - a solution

Razi,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I can't see how I would achieve the desired result with AutoIt...

No doubt it's good for recording mouse moves and keystrokes, but how would it determine when to click the SurCode 'Close' button?  The beauty of Sikuli is that it does pattern-matching on the screen elements.  So I programmed it to wait till the 'Encode' button changes back from 'greyed-out' (which it is during the encoding process) to 'normal', and then click the close button.

How would you achieve this in AutoIt?  Obviously just setting some fixed time delay would be highly inefficient, since you'd have to set a time longer than the encoding time for the longest possible track, so as not to abort the encoding.

Daniel

{allcanada} CANUCKS FIELDING CALLS ON LUONGO AHEAD OF TRADE DEADLINE

With the NHL trade deadline less than three days away, the Vancouver Canucks continue to field calls about goaltender Roberto Luongo.

"[GM Mike Gillis] is in discussion with multiple teams," Canucks assistant general manager Laurence Gilman told TSN's Farhan Lalji.  "Talks are beyond the 'tire kicking' stage."

While not stating the teams involved for Luongo's services, Gilman did lay out some of what the club could be looking for in a trade.

"We need a third-line centre, but no one is going to steal Roberto from us," Gilman stated. "We're not moving him for a rental. We need something for today and tomorrow."

The 33-year-old has posted a 7-4-3 record this season with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.

Luongo has nine years remaining after this season on a 12-year deal he signed with the Canucks prior to the 2010-11 season. His contract carries an average annual value of $5.333 million.

A three-time NHL All-Star, Luongo has been mired in a battle for playing time with Canucks keeper Cory Schneider for much of the past two seasons. The pair shared the William M. Jennings Trophy in 2010-11 for posting the league's lowest goals-against average.

A veteran of 13 NHL seasons, Luongo has posted a 346-287-53 record with a .919 save percentage and a 2.52 goals-against average in 743 career games.

Luongo was originally drafted by the New York Islanders fourth overall at the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He would be dealt three years later when the Islanders took Rick DiPietro with the first overall selection in 2000. The Canucks acquired him via trade from the Florida Panthers in 2006.

He has represented Canada internationally on numerous occasions winning gold at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver along with two World Championship golds, the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and a silver medal at the 1999 World Junior Championships.

Though unable to lead the Canucks to a Stanley Cup, Luongo has appeared in 61 playoff games for the club, posting a 32-29 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.

[SurroundSound] HDMI-questions

Hi at all and a happy Eastern...

while there a a few free days, I decided to start with a hardware-upgrade.
You know, my equiptment is verry old-styled, analog.
Besides my OPPO 93 (with ISO-FW) I´ve an AV-Receiver YAMAHA RX V1500
(no HDMI, 5 channel analog inputs, optical and coax inputs and output and component video-connections)
and my TV is also an "oldie" (plasma, but no HDMI).
There is also a mediaplayer "Xtreamer-Sidewinder" (MK1), optical connected and my files are on a synology NAS.

So I ordered before Easter an new AV-Receiver DENON AV 3313.
The first step was the 3313´s setup. It´s a bit terrible without a GUI, so I used my PC-Monitor
(DVI with HDCP). The OPPO´s 2nd HDMI I connected with the 3313, the OPPO´s output I setup to DSD.
I put in an (original!) SADC (DSOTM) an on the screen of the 3313 shows a light "DSD",
but NOTHING was to hear. :-(
So I changed to PCM and it works, as I also setup the 3313 input to "Multi-channel"
(there are 2 possibilities: DTS and Multi-Channel), it shows PCM Multichannel.
A DVD-A was also with that setup playable.
Now I took a DVD-V with DTS-Tracks and there was only "Stereo" shown.
As I switched the Input-Mode of the 3313 to "DTS" there was
"DTS-Multichannel" shown and all channels was to hear.

Much more difficulte was the connetion of my mediaplayer:
you have to decide, wich output formant you want to playback via HDMI:
2 channel DTS-downmix (forgetable), DTS, DTS-HD (and so on) OR Multichannel PCM.

If I want to playback Multi-Channel-FLACs, I´ve the output of my mediaplayer to change to
Multicannel-PCM, the 3313 also, otherwise I hear only stereo.
If I want to playback a video (mkv with DTS), I´ve both to swith to DTS.
I can the mediaplayer connect via fiber to the 3313, but there is no PCM-Multichannel support, only DTS (and AC3).

There are 2 possibilities:
Composite (video) and optical(audio) for watching filme (terribel!) and listenig audio (Multichannel PCM) via HDMI
OR
watching films via HDMI (HDTV with DTS and so on) and listening audio only in stereo.

To change the setup by each using is impossible (because of "my other best part") ...

Are there an ideas besides this cases????
I´ll send back the 3313 after Easter, this is clear for me.

[SurroundSound] Re: ReplayGain for DTS tracks - a solution

Hi Daniel,

besides your (good!) decision to move your files into multi-channel (FLAC?)-files,
there would be a solution for your "problem" with the Surcode-DTS-Decoder:
in a similar case I used "AutoIt".
With taht you can record mouse-moves, keystrokes and so on..... :-)

{allcanada} Canucks-Sharks Preview 4/1/13

The San Jose Sharks are looking to continue to roll with the fewest regulation home losses in the NHL.

The Vancouver Canucks hope to put aside an ugly eight minutes that ended their six-game win streak.

The Sharks have taken the first two matchups this season as they seek to win their fifth straight Monday night against the visiting Canucks.

San Jose (17-11-6) never led until the end of Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over Phoenix. Joe Pavelski and Marc-Edouard Vlasic each had tying goals while Logan Couture had the lone tally for either team in the shootout as the Sharks improved to 11-1-4 at home.

"I think the confidence is going up. From where it was at the low point, you can feel it going up,'' coach Todd McLellan said. "A lot of good things were said, as soon as we go down. Guys stuck with the game plan for the most part."

Pavelski has six points during a four-game run after he went eight games without a point. He has benefited from being shifted to the third line alongside T.J. Galiardi and James Sheppard.

"He's done what we've asked him to do," McLellan said. "He's gone onto that line and there's a reason why Gali (Galiardi) is probably playing better too. They're meshing well."

Playoff positioning is at stake with Vancouver (19-10-6) in fourth place in the Western Conference with 44 points and San Jose in sixth with 40. The Canucks are tied for the Northwest Division lead with Minnesota, which has played one fewer game.

Vancouver will complete a two-game trip after a stunning 4-0 loss at Edmonton on Saturday. All the goals came in the first 7:53, with Cory Schneider and Roberto Luongo each allowing two.

"It was an ugly first 10 minutes, but after that we had some push-back and settled the game down," Schneider said. "Unfortunately the damage had been done already. Maybe it's a good wakeup call for us."

Schneider has started the first two meetings with San Jose, a 4-1 road loss Jan. 27 and a 3-2 shootout defeat March 5. Luongo is 7-1-2 with a 2.06 goals-against average in his last 10 starts against the Sharks, including the postseason.

The Sharks have historically had trouble against the Sedin brothers, who combined for 29 points against them in 2010-11 including the playoffs. The duo has combined for five points in six meetings since.

San Jose has yielded four power-play goals in 50 chances at home while Vancouver owns one of the league's worst road power plays at 11.1 percent. The Canucks are 0 for 12 with the man advantage in the season series.

Vancouver played 16 games last month and San Jose 15. The Canucks will get their first two-day break between games in over three weeks after Monday.

"This has been one of the toughest grinds since I've been here," coach Alain Vigneault told the Canucks' official website. "We've had some in the past - the Olympic year there were some moments when there were some huge challenges - but this is as hard as it gets both physically and mentally."

{allcanada} Cory Monteith Checks Into Rehab

Cory Monteith Goes to Rehab; Glee Star In Treatment for Substance Abuse
Actor Cory Monteith, who stars as Finn Hudson on the Fox series Glee, has checked into rehab, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

The actor "has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," his rep tells PEOPLE. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

Monteith, 30, has been open about his past struggles with substance abuse. He admitted in a 2011 interview that he had previously entered rehab when he was 19.

At the time, the actor said he hoped being honest about his struggle with substance abuse would help others.

"I don't want kids to think it's okay to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors, too," he said in 2011. "But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it."

{allcanada} Michael Buble to swap music for acting

Michael Buble is planning to put his singing career on hold so he can launch himself as a Hollywood actor.

The Canadian crooner, who once appeared as an extra in an episode of TV show The X-Files, admits he is desperate to start making movies, but he has been too busy with his music to pursue his dream.

However, Buble is planning to take a break so he can chase acting roles full-time.

He tells Britain's Sunday Express newspaper, "The only reason I haven't done it (made a film) is because of the time constraints. I think in the next couple of years I will take time off and start making movies."

{allcanada} Flames-Oilers Preview 4/1/13

Edmonton Oilers coach Ralph Krueger doesn't expect any less of an effort from the Calgary Flames even though one of Edmonton's most famous natives is no longer a part of this rivalry.

The Oilers have won a season-high three straight but have endured recent problems against the Flames, who are trying to end the longest road losing streak in franchise history as they continue to adjust to life without Jarome Iginla in Monday night's opener of a home-and-home set.

It will be the first time since the mid-1990s this provincial rivalry won't feature Iginla, an Edmonton native who totaled 82 points against his hometown club. Krueger, however, is mindful of the fact the Flames (13-16-4) have won 10 of the last 12 meetings, including a 4-3 home victory Jan. 26 in the lone 2013 matchup.

"These games, especially between Edmonton and Calgary, have a special dynamic to them that players will be missing or players won't be missing and it seems to all be gone, and they're one-goal games," the first-year coach said. "We're expecting one-goal games here against Calgary, we're expecting real hard battles."

Edmonton (14-13-7) seeks its first four-game win streak since a six-game run Oct. 22-Nov. 3, 2011. The Oilers are brimming with confidence after Taylor Hall set a franchise record with the fastest hat trick to start a game at 7:53 in Saturday's 4-0 victory over Vancouver.

Hall beat the old mark of 12:38 set by Wayne Gretzky in 1986.

"It's a pretty special moment that I will never forget,'' said Hall, who has eight points in a four-game run. "Playing in an organization like this one, the records you are trying to break have been set by pretty legendary players.''

Hall has made a minimal impact in the 'Battle of Alberta' with four points in eight games. With the Oilers in contention for a playoff spot, he knows they must pick up points against the Flames - who host Wednesday's rematch.

"We've won three games in a row for the first time this year, we need to make it four," Hall told the Oilers' official website. "We need to keep winning. We're still not in the playoffs yet.

"Games against Calgary - we play them back-to-back - if we had two wins here it would be huge for our team."

The Flames insist they won't be pushovers as they try to end a 0-9-1 road slide that includes eight straight regulation defeats. They had their eight-game home win streak snapped with Friday's 6-4 loss to Columbus.

"We know the rivalry between the two teams," coach Bob Hartley told the Flames' official website. "I think that we're going to see a great game and we want to come out flying and they certainly want to do the same. Let's drop the puck."

Calgary's top goal scorers, Curtis Glencross and Michael Cammalleri, have totaled just five of their 25 goals on the road.

Lee Stempniak had a goal and two assists to lead the Flames in the first meeting while Miikka Kiprusoff made 17 saves to improve to 15-2-0 with a 2.43 goals-against average in his last 17 starts against the Oilers.

{allcanada} Wizards hand Raps sixth loss in seven games

WASHINGTON — Bradley Beal scored 24 points in his return to the lineup, leading the Washington Wizards to a 109-92 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

Emeka Okafor had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and John Wall added 18 points and 10 assists for Washington. The Wizards, who came in having lost two in a row on the road, won their seventh straight at home and moved into a tie with Toronto for 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

Jonas Valanciunas had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Raptors, losers of six of their last seven. Toronto leading scorer Rudy Gay scored 11 points — about seven below his average — while being limited to 26 minutes due to foul trouble.

Toronto, which has lost six of seven, cut a 20-point third-quarter deficit to six twice in the fourth quarter before Washington pulled away.

After missing five straight games, and 11 of 13, with a sprained left ankle, Beal shot 8 for 14 from the field, including a career-high six 3-pointers — on nine attempts — in 30 minutes.

Washington increased a 10-point halftime lead to 16 with an 8-2 run to open the second half. Toronto cut it to 70-62, but Beal hit 3-pointers on three of the Wizards' next four possessions to make it 79-64.

A little over a minute later, Beal hit another 3 and, after a Toronto miss, Okafor's dunk put Washington ahead 86-66 with 2:18 left in the quarter.

The Wizards scored 12 points from the foul line in the opening 12 minutes. Wall's two free throws gave the Wizards a 27-25 lead at the end of a first quarter that featured nine lead changes.

With Washington ahead by one midway through the second quarter, Keven Seraphin scored six of his 11 first-half points in an 8-2 Washington spurt. A minute later, Wall fed Trevor Ariza for fast-break layup that made it 50-41 and Washington led by 10 at the half.

The Wizards shot 52.4 per cent from the field in the first half (22 of 42) to 39 per cent (17 of 43) for Toronto.

Gay was held to five points in the half and DeMar DeRozan to four, while Valanciunas scored 16 for Toronto.

NOTES: Wizards F Nene missed his fourth game with a sore right knee. … The last time Washington won seven consecutive home games was during the 2006-07 season when they won 10 straight. … The Wizards visit Toronto on Wednesday to wrap up the season-series. Washington has won two of the first three meetings.

{allcanada} Jets-Rangers Preview 4/1/13

With the way both offenses have been struggling, one goal could be the difference Monday night when the Winnipeg Jets try to build their lead atop the Southeast Division and sweep the season series from the New York Rangers.

Despite their recent offensive woes, the Jets still hold a slight edge over Carolina and Washington atop in the Southeast as they play the Rangers for the third time.

Winnipeg, though, hopes to get back on track after dropping its second straight in a 3-1 home loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday. The Jets have lost four of six, totaling only two goals in those losses.

"No one's more disappointed than us,'' coach Claude Noel said. "The division race is going to get played out (but) it's not what we had in mind.''

Noel's club ranked near the bottom of the league at 2.06 goals per game in March despite taking 30 or more shots in eight of its 16 games. Winnipeg has also received little from its power play, converting just 6 of 69 chances (8.7 percent) over its last 27 games.

The Jets may be able to break through in that category since the Rangers have allowed a power-play goal in six straight contests and ranked near the bottom of the league in penalty-kill percentage at 73.2 for March.

Winnipeg (18-16-2) has a chance to sweep New York for the first time since winning all four games in 2002-03, when the franchise was still in Atlanta.

The Rangers, the NHL's lowest scoring team at 2.21 goals per game, have 14 over their last 10 games and were shut out for the second straight contest in a 3-0 loss at Montreal on Saturday.

"We have to stay positive,'' New York coach John Tortorella said. "We'll try to correct some things that are going wrong, but we'll work on the positives."

While Tortorella's club entered the season with high expectations, the Rangers (16-15-3) remain on the edge of the Eastern Conference playoff race - tied for eighth place with 14 games left.

Goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who has a 3-2-1 record and a 1.79 goals-against average over his last six starts, has done his best to keep New York in the hunt.

Lundqvist has taken the loss in both starts against the Jets this season, but has a 7-4-4 record with a 1.96 GAA in 15 lifetime starts at home - including the 2007 playoffs - in this series.

Although Ryan Callahan has been mired in an eight-game scoreless drought, he may be able to give the Rangers a spark in this contest. He has eight goals in his last 11 games against the Jets.

Derek Stepan, second on the team with 10 goals, has produced a point in four of the last five meetings.

Winnipeg goalie Ondrej Pavelec will try to keep the Rangers' offense struggling. He's won both starts with a 2.00 GAA and a .935 save percentage in the season series.

Evander Kane could be a factor after scoring twice in a 4-3 win at New York on Feb. 26. He also has six goals and 10 points in 11 career games against the Rangers.
