Alexandre Comtois scored on the power play at 1:06 of overtime Wednesday as the Sherbrooke Phoenix defeated the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 6-5 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Cole Hawes and Michael McNamee each added two goals and two assists for Sherbrooke (2-8-1), while Brandon Lesway also scored and added an assist.
Jacob Gervais-Chouinard stopped 22 shots to secure the Phoenix's second win of the season.
Kyle Farrell had two goals and two assists for Cape Breton (2-6-4), while William Carrier also scored and added three assists.
Michael Clarke and Stephen Woodworth had the other goals for the Screaming Eagles.
Philippe Trudeau started for Cape Breton but allowed three goals on just eight shots in the first period before getting the hook. Alex Bureau went the rest of the way for the Screaming Eagles, stopping 14-of-17 shots.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Moncton 4, Acadie-Bathurst 3 (OT); Halifax 7, P.E.I. 5; Quebec 5, Saint John 2; Blainville-Boisbriand 3, Rimouski 1; Chicoutimi 5, Baie-Comeau 4 (SO); and Gatineau 5, Shawinigan 3.
At Sydney, N.S., despite his big night on the scoresheet, Carrier cost his team with a penalty late in the third period.
The Cape Breton left-winger was called for tripping with 11 seconds left in regulation and Sherbrooke capitalized with Comtois' goal 1:17 later in overtime.
The Phoenix led 3-2 after the first period, but Farrell scored his first of the night at 1:23 of the second to tie the score.
Lesway restored the Sherbrooke lead just 47 seconds later, but Woodworth knotted the score again at 18:53 and Farrell's second of the night at 2:36 of the third gave Cape Breton a 5-4 edge.
The back-and-forth continued at 14:29 when Hawes scored his second of the night to tie the score 5-5.

At Moncton, N.B., Jonathan Racine scored 26 seconds into overtime as the Wildcats (5-6-0) defeated Acadie-Bathurst (5-4-3).
