The Ottawa Senators have decided to keep forward Zack Smith in the nation's capital for the foreseeable future.
On Wednesday, the club announced that Smith signed a four-year extension through the 2016-17 season. The deal will have an average annual cap hit of $1.88 million.
The 24-year-old appeared in all but one of the Senators' 82 regular-season games, scoring 14 goals and adding 12 assists.
Smith was Ottawa's third-round pick, 79th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
