The Ottawa Sun relays that an NHL lockout could hit home for some Senators employees.
If the NHL does shut the doors Sept. 15, some people in the club's front office have been notified they'll be laid off until there's a new agreement in place. Those kept on staff, meanwhile, could have shortened work weeks.
While the club has issued a statement recently saying that it will be "business as usual" until it's decided whether training camp and the season are going to start on time, the Senators aren't the only ones bracing for the worst.
Calgary Flames president Ken King confirmed last month his club is preparing for cutbacks. He said employees will be offered the chance to take a sabbatical or a leave of absence — without pay — with a guarantee of getting their jobs back.
