You know them from their thrusting Spandex crotches, goofy props and general visitors' penalty box antics at the Vancouver Canucks' Rogers Arena home.
Now you can know the Green Men – scratch that, one Green Man – as an inductee into ESPN's inaugural Hall of Fans.
The network's hall of fame for sports fans announced its three-pronged inaugural class Wednesday. Thousands applied, but the three superfans chosen were Baltimore Ravens supporter "Captain Dee-Fense," University of Alabama softball aficionado Emily, and Sully – one half of the Green Men.
Inspired by Charlie Day's "Green Man" character on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Green Men first donned their suits and sat down beside the enemy's penalty box in December 2009 and have since appeared in full skintight regalia for 50-plus Canucks home games.
Sully and his fellow fans are set to be honoured with a plaque plastered on a vintage stadium chair at a ceremony in Bristol, Connecticut on Sept. 19.
It remains unclear why Force, Sully's streamlined partner, will not be honoured as well.
