Amplifiers are commodities within their power/distortion thresholds -- in
other words, as long as you don't drive them to distortion, they are
likely to sound the same. So what you get should depend on the size of
your room, how loud you want to play music and movies, and what speakers
(load) you are driving. Unless you have a very large room, want to play
music very loud, and have very 'difficult' speakers, those models will
probably do.
After that, it's all features, features, features. Ability to accept and
decode a variety of modern digital formats is good. So is some kind of
room correction EQ scheme. Denon's Audyssey seems to be more highly
thought of than Pioneer's MCACC, but both have their advocates. Wireless
network connectivity is also getting popular.
