The New Jersey Devils have lost one of their unrestricted free agents.
Forward Alexei Ponikarovsky, who had 18 points in 33 games for the Devils after being acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes, agreed to a one-year, $1.8 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
Ponikarovsky, 32, was Toronto's fourth-round selection (No. 87) at the 1998 NHL Draft. His best season came with the Maple Leafs in 2008-09, when he had 23 goals and 38 assists.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound wing had a goal and eight assists in 24 games for New Jersey in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
