FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Regina's Reuben Ross finished fifth on the men's three-metre to conclude the third stop on the FINA Grand Prix diving circuit Sunday.
Christopher Colwill of the U.S. won the gold with 475.30 points, edging Shixin Li of China in second at 474.95.
Alejandro Daniel Islas Arroyo of Mexico was third at 445.50. Ross finished with 436.50.
Ross' best dives were his forward three-and-a-half and reverse three-and-half, which earned him 8.0's and above. Two other dives received scores ranging in the 7.0's and 7.5's, while his opening back two-and-a-half scored slightly lower.
Meanwhile, in the women's 10-metre tower final, Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal withdrew for precautionary measures. One of Canada's busiest divers this season, she tweeted that her triceps were bothering her and wanted to make sure she is in top condition for the Olympic trials.
The next competition for Benfeito and Canada's other top divers are the trials May 25-27 in Montreal.
Canada ends the weekend's competition with just the silver medal earned by Benfeito and Roseline Filion Laval, Que., in the 10-metre synchro on Saturday.
