SAGINAW, Mich. -- The Plymouth Whalers made it a clean regular-season sweep over their Michigan rivals from Saginaw on Monday, downing the Spirit 6-4 in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Whalers won all eight games against the Spirit in 2011-12, including two in the shootout.

Plymouth scored four unanswered goals in the final 11 minutes Monday to erase a 4-2 deficit.

It was the first time that the Whalers swept the Spirit during the regular season in the ten-year history of the series.

Alex Aleardi had two goals and assist and Stefan Noesen and Michael Whaley each had a goal and an assist for Plymouth (40-17-3). J.T. Miller and Chris Albertini also scored for the Whalers.

Garret Ross and Steven Strong had a goal and an assist each for the Spirits as Saginaw (27-25-8) dropped its third straight game. Vincent Trocheck and David Perklin, with his first career OHL goal, also scored.

The Spirit led 4-2 in the third on a goal from Ross at 2:49 and looked to be in control before the Whalers exploded with four straight.

Albertini scored at 10:29 and Aleardi tied it at 12:20. Whaley gave Plymouth the lead at 16:01 and Aleardi scored his second goal into an empty net at 19:43.
