{allcanada} QMJHL: BEAULIEU LEADS SEA DOGS PAST WILDCATS

 

Montreal Canadiens prospect Nathan Beaulieu wasn't about to let his Saint John Sea Dogs lose to their provincial rivals.

Beaulieu scored the winner and added two assists as Saint John downed the Moncton Wildcats 5-3 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The Sea Dogs have now won 15 games in a row, the longest streak in the Canadian Hockey League this season.

Also, the win clinches the Brunswick News Rivalry Cup, an annual competition between the two teams.

The Rivalry Cup goes to the team with the best performance in the regular-season series as well as the biggest in-game attendance, impact on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook and quantity of food collected in a food drive.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Val-d'Or 3 Rouyn-Noranda 2 (OT).

At Saint John, N.B., Beaulieu scored 8:19 into the third period for the Sea Dogs (45-14-2), while Maxime Villemaire had a short-handed goal. Charles Coyle, Stanislav Galiev and Jonathan Huberdeau also found the back of the net.

Marek Hrivik, Devon MacAusland and Christophe Lalonde replied for the Wildcats (27-27-6).

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Michael Beaudry scored on the power play 47 seconds into overtime as Val-d'Or (27-30-5) slipped past the Huskies (20-34-7).
